Shaikh Yassir Fazaga has this charismatic ability to instantly connect with audiences, through his lucid wit and profound wisdom, his timely humor and the warmth that his presence exudes.

Shaikh Yassir Fazaga is an inspiring, multi-lingual speaker sought-after from USA through Canada to the Middle and Far East. He was born in Eritrea in Northeast Africa and moved to the United States at the age of 15. He has a Bachelors Degree in Islamic Studies from the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in Virginia and received a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from the California State University of Long Beach. He is currently a professor at the American Open University in Alexandria, Virginia and the Imam at the Orange County Islamic Foundation in Mission Viejo, California where he teaches religious education classes and leads the youth group.

Shaikh Yassir serves as the Religious Leader of Orange County Islamic Foundation (OCIF) in Mission Viejo, California. He is the Director of Mental Health Department at Access California Social Services Agency in Anaheim, where he helps families with different challenges in life which include: domestic violence issues, communication problems, marital matters, generational gap, difficult teens, some mental and personality disorders, divorce, grief, and single parenting, among others.

Shaikh Yassir has been teaching the Arabic language and Islamic Sciences and offering Islamic courses on Scriptural Exegesis, and Islamic financial contracts for American Open University. He oversees the OCIF youth group in many of their educational, spiritual and recreational activities and participates on behalf of the OCIF in many outreach and interfaith events.

Shaikh Yassir has done numerous interviews about Islam on television and radio stations around the globe. He speaks on Islam and related topics for conferences, churches, high schools, colleges and universities. He serves on the advisory board of the Islamic Studies program at Claremont Graduate School; He is listed on the “Who is Who among America’s Teachers” where the best students choose their best teachers and was recently featured on the Today Show on “Spirituality in America”. He was one of the co-hosts of weekly “WiseLiving” TV program and a regular guest speaker on Peace TV.

Shaikh Yassir has co-translated the Risalah al-Mustarshidin, The Message for the Seekers of Guidance, a constructive and instructional manual of ethical empowerment originally authored by renowned ninth century (165AH – 243AH) scholar Abdullah bin Harith al-Muhasibi who was known for his spirituality. This book is for those who wish to:
• Live ethically
• Cultivate emotional wisdom
• Awaken spiritual vision
• Enhance moral intelligence
• Manifest purposeful living

Shaikh Yassir currently lives in Mission Viejo, CA with his wife and twin boys – Ibrahim and Zayed. He enjoys playing volleyball on Sundays and riding his bike.
