:sl:

I married my wife in 1994 and then we lived happily with our children. But something happened in 2009. My wife found there was something on her breast. We went to the doctor, and the result of diagnosis was, my wife attacked by breast cancer.

Then she started to get therapy which chosen by herself because she was afraid of surgery and chemotherapy, but her condition was not getting better. In 2010 her condition was getting worse. Cancer had attacked her bones. It really hurt her. Some people around us thought that she would die. But I had not lose my hope. I still and always made dua, begged Allah to save my wife.

Late of 2010. Finally doctor did surgery to remove her left breast. And then something happened. My wife condition becoming better very fast that surprised the doctors. They said that's a miracle. Allah saved my beloved wife. I very grateful because Allah granted my dua.

Year 2011 was the happiest year in my life. I felt happiness came again to my family, and I started to build a new dream. I felt very grateful with miracle that had given by Allah, although my wife was still in medical process which regularly she received chemotherapy.

Entered the year 2012. The happiness still stayed in my family. But then something happened after mid of 2012. My wife condition was getting worse, and the result of diagnosis shown that the cancer attacked her again. Even worse than before.

Then I brought her to hospital. Doctors tried to cure her. But finally they lost their hope. They told me about my wife condition and asked me to be strong to accept what would happen to her. And later they allowed my wife to leave hospital.

My wife condition was very bad when she back to our home. But I tried to take care her. I still and always made dua, wish Allah make her better. I still maintain my hope, even after her condition was getting worse and she started to tell me that she would go. But I still believe that her condition would be better, I still believe my dua would save her again.

But, on June 11, 2013, Allah took my wife return to him. I cried hysterically when I realize, she had gone forever.

That was the biggest loss in my life. But I tried to accept it although it's very hard. I still and always believe in dua, but I also believe in destiny. I remember what has taught to me since I was kid. Human obligated to do effort, but Allah decide. My dua was my effort to save her, and her destiny was Allah decision.

I know, Allah does not always give what I want. But I believe that Allah always gives me what the best for me. I believe it, and it makes me strong

Nothing impossible for Allah. But it doesn't mean we can ask Allah for something impossible; although we can still make dua for something which our chance to get it is very small, if we do efforts.

I have been taught since I was kid that dua must be accompanied by an efforts, and the usefulness of dua is to help our efforts. This is why I never ask something that beyond my ability, but I always ask, only something that I still have a chance to get it although I must struggle hard.

Did Allah always answer my dua?. Not always. But few times I got 'surprise' which gave me advantage, after I did my hard effort.

Okay, I will tell a true event that I never forget, which enlighten me about dua. And it's very unique because it's happened in ......... motorcycle racing!

I was a motorcycle racer when I was teen. And in early of my career I raced in national scale race event which I was the youngest racer in the race, 14 years old. I noticed my competitors and I realized, let alone to win, to go to final which only 10 racer that will enter, seem like impossible. But could I get the 10th position?. It's very hard, but might be I still had a chance.

So, in the night before elimination race I made dua, wish Allah let me go to final although only in 10th position. I repeat this dua again, an again until I didn't know how many times. And in the next day before he race I repeat this dua again.

And the race began. I tried to do my best efforts. But until 200 meters before finish line I was still in 11th position while the racer that in 10th position was more than 100 meter in front of me!. But something happened. Less than 100 meters before finish line, his motorcycle engine suddenly off!. So I could overtake him and finish on the 10th position., as I asked in my dua.

I realized that this luck was the answer of my dua. But immediately there was a question that appeared in my mind. If I asked something higher like win the race or finish at 3rd position, would Allah give me a luck like this?. Immediately too an answer appeared in my mind. No! and might be I would not go to final. If I got the 10th position, this was the worth position that I could get due to my level of ability.

This is why, then I never make dua for something that beyond my ability. But I always try to improve my ability. So, if today I make dua for something low, next year after I improve my ability, I make dua for something higher.

Okay, my question. If your financial ability is low, can you make dua wish Allah make you have supermarket chain?.

Maybe you can say, "if I make dua to have supermarket chain, Allah must be will grant it". But have you really ever in this situation?. Just try to build supermarket chain with your money, and you will know that this impossible.

But if you make dua, wish Allah help you to build a small shop, is it possible your dua would be granted?. Possible, if you do an effort.

Yes, notice your current ability when you make dua to get something. If you only able to build small shop, make dua wish Allah give you easiness to build a small shop. After your small shop has been built, make dua again, wish Allah give you more profit, so you can make your shop going bigger. Of course you should do your best effort.

After your shop becoming bigger, make dua again, wish Allah give you easiness to have a supermarket. After you have a supermarket, make dua again, wish Allah give you easiness to build your second supermarket. Then make dua again, wish Allah give you easiness to build a supermarket chain.

Yes, do not make dua for something that impossible. But make dua gradually for something that possible today while always try to improve your ability. In Shaa Allah, something that impossible today will be possible in the future.

In restoring a badly broken marriage, both parties must be mutually succumb, forgive each other, tolerate each other, and must willing to understand each other. If one or both parties are still selfish and thinking to defeat each other, then it's impossible to restore this broken marriage.

So, to restore the broken marriage, at first we must make it possible with our willingness to succumb, forgive, tolerate, and understand our spouses. Then we can make dua wish Allah make our spouses have willingness like this too. In Shaa Allah, our broken marriage can be restored.

Salaam Sister.

One thing I could always remember as a kid was making dua' with my mother and little brother before going to sleep. We would thank Allah for our home, for my Dad's good job, for the food, and pray for our sins to be forgiven etc.

One thing I prayed for in secret when my Mom left my room after doing dua' was that my parents wouldn't EVER separate / divorce. Now, my parents had an amazing relationship with each-other and they believe that only death would separate them but I continued to pray every night that they would be with each-other. I also told my little brother who shared a room with me to do this as well. This is because a lot of my class-mates's parents would divorce. It wasn't just the non-muslims, it was the Muslims as well. It was awkward going to a friends home and seeing his step-father yell at him or give him evil looks. It was harder seeing my friends feel sad, get violent, and eventually suspended / expelled from school. It was embarrassing seeing them drinking alcohol or doing drugs. It just, well, felt nasty for two parents who chose to get married and have kids with each-other to leave one another and dramatically change their children's life.

Last Thursday was my parents 23'rd Anniversary. They bought home a nice vanilla cake with coconut dressing and spent that day talking with each-other while eating the cake.

Allah has no limits on what He can do.

Thank you for sharing your story and really sorry for your loss. I like the dua you made about the race! I believe in the power of dua as well, also I believe that all dua is answered or should be answered the problem is us, like you said you learned to ask only what is in your ability in other words, to eliminate any doubts that you may have which remind me of the most important condition for an answered prayer is to be CERTAIN that it will happen.

That is really clever of you to pray for your parents to stay together, never thought to ask Allah for my parents for something like that. Congratulation to your parents and may they stay together forever.

Dua....

I know I do make regular dua's and to be honest I cannot recall having the dua answered in a way that I know that my dua is answered. My wife on the other hand, often gets hers answered. Often she would request for 'indication' for things and she often does get it!

However, Allah works in mysterious ways and despite not getting exactly what I requested for, no calamities has befallen me and despite however bad things are on the surface and what appears to be the world around me falling to pieces and the path narrowing considerably, I somehow manage to put years in between .... seems like the 'end of the world' that was supposed to have taken place became a normal day with nothing bad happening... I am still alive and living ... My dua's must have been answered...... not just the way I was expecting it...

Alhamdulillah...

Peace

Yes, I did ask about the impossible as there are no limitations in Allah's resources. Also, Allah may arrange any source (vaseela) for you. Like in Cancer, a new treatment by scientists may be discovered.

Assalamu alaikum,

Allah can Do anything He Pleases. (smile) After I'd initially read this post, I clicked away to today's news, and almost immediately, my eye was caught by the following :

http://www.cbc.ca/asithappens/featur...cle/index.html

(smile) So I felt I should add a little comment to this thread.

In my life, I've experienced some pretty astonishing answers to my requests. And I have heard or read about other people's similarly unexpected experiences. But I have also learnt that whether Allah Grants our requests is His Prerogative. Sometimes He Does, sometimes He Does not.

Because He Knows what is best for us. I believe that whatever happens, is what is necessary and best for me. (smile) It doesn't mean I like it. (laugh) I would surely have chosen other things for myself in my life! But I have noticed that there have been things that I really disliked... that have brought me great benefits, though sometimes I did not realize it till even decades later.

It seems to me that if we pray: please Allah Give me this or that... then we tend to get a little disappointed when what we prayed for doesn't happen. I personally like the way the istikhara prayer is phrased. In it, we ask Allah to help us towards something if it is good for us in this life and the Next, but to turn us away from it, and it away from us, if it is not good for us.

So I have taken this as the pattern for my prayers. I ask : Please Allah, could you Gift me with x...if it is good for me in this life and the Next. And if it is not, please don't Gift me with this. And if it is something that I feel a lot of emotion about, then I ask Allah to Help me cope with my emotions, if it is best that I not have whatever it is.

(smile) And I find this helps me. If I do get it, I am grateful He has Gifted me this, and I feel that He Loves me. And if I don't get it, then I can let go of what I am desiring more easily ((twinkle) Though it's still hard to let go, sometimes!).

And Allah has always Sent me something to ease my emotion. Not necessarily something very big, but small little Gifts, slipped into the pockets of my life. (shining) So then I feel His Love there, too!

All thanks and praise to the Loving, Omnipotent One, Who Knows and Decrees!

Allah answers the prayers of the distressed heart. Do not despair. One verse that I like to recite is:

أمن يجيب المضطر إذا دعاه ويكشف السوء ويجعلكم خلفاء الأرض ۗ أإلٰه مع الله ۚ قليلا ما تذكرون

(Surah Al-Naml)

Greetings and peace be with you all,

Thanks for sharing your stories, they show the power of Allah, and Iceee, I have to say for a child to pray for your parents marriage is indeed profound and shows a great wisdom.

Some challenging prayers I like when searching for what to pray for......
This prayer also shows that Allah answers prayers; in ways we may not recognise, sorry don’t know the source of this prayer.

I asked for Strength.........
And Allah gave me Difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom.........
And Allah gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity.........
And Allah gave me Brain and Brawn to work.
I asked for Courage.........
And Allah gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love.........
And Allah gave me Troubled people to help.
I asked for Favours.........
And Allah gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted
I received everything I needed
My Prayer has been answered.

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire, If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Because it means you've made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfilment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a ! negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.

May God bless us with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, superficial relationships, so that we may live deep within our hearts.

May God bless us with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people so that we may work for justice, equality and peace.

May God bless us with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that we may reach out our hand to comfort them and change their pain into joy.

And may God bless us with enough foolishness to believe that we can make a difference in the world, so that we can do what others claim cannot be done, to bring justice and kindness to all.

Amen

In the spirit of praying to do the will of Allah

Surah Mulk (The Dominion) Chapter 67 of The Holy Quran Ayah 1
67:1 Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things.

Meaning that everything is his Dominion and everything in it is his control how could The One who created everything not modifie his creation by His will?
And this is also a very good Surah to read before going to sleep.
Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,
"Verily, there is a chapter in the Qur’an which contains thirty Ayat that will intercede on behalf of its reciter until he is forgiven. (It is): ‘Blessed be He in Whose Hand is the dominion.’"
[This Hadith was collected by At-Tirmidhi and the four Sunan Compilers. At-Tirmidhi said concerning it, “This is a Hasan Hadith.”]
He (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) used to recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Al-Mulk (in Arabic) before sleeping.
[Reference: At-Tirmithi, An-Nasa’i. See also Al-Albani, Sahihul-Jami ’ As-Saghir 4/255]
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) saying,
"There is a Surah in the Qur’an which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is ‘Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.’ (Surat Al-Mulk 67)."
[At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud]
Commentary from Riyad-us-Saliheen:
This Hadith means that on the Day of Resurrection this Surah will intercede with Allaah for the forgiveness of its reciter. This Hadith has been narrated (in Arabic) in the past tense because, like the past indefinite, its occurrence is definite and not open to inquiry. At some places, however, it has also been narrated in the present tense.

There is 99.99 % chances for us not to get married. But I truly loved him I can't get aparted from him
I m asking allah now to make each my wali agreed upon . M crying late night asking allah to make this marriage happen . Even the guy too wants to marry me as well.
Allah has already selected the spouse for each one, if suppose he has been selected for any other lady by allah but after my dua will allah make him mine ?

Their us no doubt that dua will turn impossible to possible.
But sis I'll give u a advice don't just ask Allah to get married to the guy u love , ask Allah to put khair in ur relation and ask Allah to do what's khair for u .
Just imagine getting married to guy u loved but after that fighting and all. You will definitely not be happy .
Try to keep ur distance for that guy till u r halal for him.
Don't just forget that whatever happens in future either u marry him or not , their is always good hidden purpose behind it.

The Etiquette of Du’â
http://islamqa.org/hanafi/askimam/28583

27. Not to make du’a for prohibited and impossible things

It is the height of transgression in du’a to demand from your Creator those things that He has prohibited for you, either in this life or in the life Hereafter. A person should realise his place and status in front of his Creator, and beward of exalting himself to where he thinks he can ask for that which he is prohibited from.
One should also avoid making du’a for pre-determinded things. For example, a woman should not make a du’a of being transformed into a man, or a tall person should not make Du’a thus: “O Allah! Make me short.”
https://dailyduaa.com/etiquette-and-adab-of-duaa/

But what is mentioned of impossible in the quote above is not referring to what you have mentioned. Curing cancer etc is not an impossible Dua according to the definition given in quote above.

Although asking for broken marriages to be healed is a different matter as that has to do with choices made by individuals and though we may make Dua for them to be together they may make Dua to separate which counter acts your Dua.

Allahu Alom

I'm newbie here. I've found your website by using google, typing the same name as in the title of the current thread

what was my motivation to join this forum? To get proper answers, to know what I don't know.

I'd really like to know about the extraordinary things beyond human imagination like it happened throughout history and other possible questions I may ask.
Right now I have a question about the miracle that was given to prophet Suleyman (aleyhim-s-salam) by Allah azzawajal after his praying.

imagine, you're just a mu'min and you want Allah to give you such an ability to control a couple of shayateen in order to use them for certain different purposes because Allah Says call on Me and I will answer you, you can ask whatever you wish in your du'a and you'll get what you desire

I have often wondered this well thought question myself when pondering whetger there are limits to what Allah does even though He. is all capable, it there protocols within the physical wotld he does not breach kike eg curing stroke victims vision, body impairments, cancers. Are people just being optimistic when its futile as trusting in Allah for meeting those needs is it maybe unrealistic from Allah. Faith is bot testable in this?

You are Allah's servant, He is not your servant. OF course he is capable of all things. Just because something doesn't happen your way does not mean it cannot happen. Allah tests us all in different ways and this is what life is. It's not about being optimistic, it's about having trust in Allah in the outcome of your affairs whether they are to your liking or not, and accepting them.

Thank you.
I forgot to tell you something. Nothing is impossible for God To do something, because God Says in Quran that He obly orders "Be" and it is, so simple for Him To do. And Quran suggest us not to ask for something harmful, haram or sinful or something which is kufr. We should ask only what is halal.
