View Full Version : The Mu'min (True Believer) and the Most Pious

:salam:

:bism:

The Most Pious amongst the Sahaba undoutedly was Abu Bakr(RA) whom Mohamamd(SAW) has said should he be on one side of the Scale and the rest of the Sahabas on the other side then Abu Bakr AS Siddique(RA) would outweigh them!

The most Pious amongst the Tabi'en (the ones after Sahaba) was Uwais Al Qarani(RA) whom Mohammad(SAW) requested through Umar(RA) to make dua for the Ummah.

So what is it that made them the highest ranking? It is their Love for Mohammad(SAW) and his love for them. Although Mohammad(SAW) never saw Uwais(RA) he was still aware of his love for him; as to how this is possible will digress the topic but it's an important fact to bear in mind that Mohammad(SAW) was aware of Uwais(RA) love for him even though he was in a distant land and could not see him!

I once said in a thread that Sunnah is "Optional" however my heart didn't settle on the matter. It's more correct to say it's "recommended" as it ranks higher then Nafl and lesser then Wajeeb. And although it is not "Sinful" to neglect it is definitely is "Harmful" to ones "Imaan". Because Sunnah is something which is done out of love for Mohammad(SAW) and one should not neglect it intentionally when one is able to do it easily; nor should one have a flippant or complacent attitude towards it for it dulls the Imaan. It is means by which one acquires blessings from Allah Most High and attains closeness to Him.

So Why Does Allah Most High give so much importance to Sunnah?

This is because the Love Allah Most High has for Mohammad(SAW) is beyond our imagination; for example for what reason does some of the opening chapters of the Quran at times only contain words which only Mohammad(SAW) knows the meaning of? For what reason did Allah send Salam to 5 prophets in the Qur'an but in order to give His Salam to Mohammad(SAW) he invited him to the Heavens during Isra Wal Mi'raj so He can personally give Salam to His beloved!

Mohammad(SAW) is also the one who most Excelled at Loving Allah Most High in comparison to all other creations. Some one who Loves Allah Most High to this extent naturally garners love for things Allah Most High loves and this is why Mohammad(SAW) is also had most love for mankind and the Creation of Allah Most High for Allah Most High loves His creation. Allah Most High mentions how much it grieves Mohammad(SAW) to see the state of Mankind and how burdened he(SAW) is to see them in difficulty:

“Certainly a Messenger has come to you from among yourselves; grievous to him is your falling into distress, excessively solicitous respecting you; to the believers (he is) compassionate,” (At-Tawbah 9:128).

It is necessary and most just to love Mohammad(SAW) more then everything else in the world because the Love Mohammad(SAW) had for us and all creation outweighs the love our parents, wifes, siblings etc have for us. This is why I say "it's all about LOVE!" for priority in relation is given to one who Loves you most. The order being Allah Most High, then Mohammad(SAW), then your parents and then whom ever is closest (wive, children, siblings, cousins, friends etc).

Mohammad(SAW) once told Umar(RA) You are not a true believer unless you love me more than you love yourself and every other creation. Do you think Mohammad(SAW) said this out of vanity or desiring fame? NO! He is not one who speaks from desire for Allah Most High says:

"Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination" (53:3)

So Mohammad(SAW) asked Umar(RA) to do this because he wants good for Umar(RA) and for him to attain closeness with Allah Most High by Pleasing Him. And Allah is evidently most pleased with those that most Love Mohammad(SAW) and whom he in return loves. This is because of the Love Allah Most High has for Mohammad(SAW). Without sincere love for Mohammad(SAW) it's IMPOSSIBLE to attain closeness with Allah Most High.

A Shaykh of Mine once said Allah Most High does not reserve judgement for the hereafter for those who insult Mohammad(SAW) rather their judgement is given on earth. We can see examples of this with Abu Lahab and the man that tried to spit at him; both of whom were foretold they will be in hell whilst they were living and breathing on Earth! and as for those who dared lay a hand on him they died in the exact same spot showed to the Sahabas before the battle of Badr.

Allah Most High does not tolerate any form of disrespect towards Mohammad(SAW) and he warns those who do this will have all their deeds Nullified!

“O you who believe! Be not forward in the presence of Allah and His Apostle, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is Hearing, Knowing. O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, and do not speak loud to him as you speak loud to one another, lest your deeds became null while you do not perceive. Surely those who lower their voices before Allah’s Apostle are they whose hearts Allah has tested for guarding (against evil); they shall have forgiveness and a great reward. (49:1-3)”

Anything which Allah Most High gives importance must be given respect and honored. Piety comes from respecting them and disrespecting them will pollutes your Heart. Allah Most High mentions this in the Qur'an:

"And whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts." 22:32

So Dear Brothers and Sisters, if you struggling with your Fard then re-enforce your actions through Sunnah because Sunnah increases ones Imaan if it is done our of Love for Mohammad(SAW). It is actions through which one draws closer to Allah Most High. Know the important role Mohammad(SAW) plays in Islam and give him the love Allah Most High commands you to through your actions:

Lo! Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.
33:56

Every Muslim will claim to Love Allah Most High but the Mu'mins are the ones that Love Mohammad(SAW) and piety is determined by this. Allah Most High mentions int he Qur'an:

"And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers. 2:8"

If you read the Qur'an the criterion for a "Mu'Min" is given here because the Arabic word "Mu'min" is translated as believers. Allah Most High says these people who believe in Him and the Last day such as the Khawarij do, you could say the present day equivalent to ISIS and Alqaeda, and the Munafiqs like Abdullah ibn Ubay are not "Mu'mins". Sure they are Muslims, they said the Shahadah didn't they? but these people belong in the Hell fire as they had no respect for Mohammad(SAW) and had all their deeds NULLIFIED.

Khawarij were peoples whos tents used to buzz with recitation or Qur'an and nafl Ibadah but all their ruku, sujood and recitation of Qur'an meant nothing to Allah Most High! They Had Tawheed! They believed in the Oneness of Allah Most High and doing it solely for Him yet Allah Most High will not accept it! So what is it that made them so detestable that Allah Most High rejected their acts of worship towards Him? What is the common denominator between Khawarij and Abdullah ibn Ubay whom the Qur'an is referring to?
They believed everything in Islam accept they saw Mohammad(SAW) just as a paper boy, a massenger. They had no love in their Hearts for him(SAW) nor saw any special quality in him. They saw him as any other man but with Wahi (revelations) coming to him; and they only gave importance to the revelations and not him! Contrast this with the way the Sahaba saw Mohammad(SAW) who would rush to catch the water that came from his blessed mouth or touched him during Wudhu, who would queue to receive a portion of his blessed hair when he cut it, who would not throw away the blood that came out from his sacred body due to cupping and who out of love for him would sacrifice everything in the world to stop a thorn from pricking him. Abu Bakr(RA) did not BUDGE AN INCH while Mohammad(SAW) was laying asleep on his lap in the cave even though a scorpion stung him and caused him IMMENSE pain because it might disturb his (SAW) sleep. Do any of you think you can match this love Abu Bakr(RA) had for Mohammad(SAW)?

So Dear brothers and sisters; it is now your call. Are you satisfied with being a Muslim or do you want to be Mu'mins (true believers)? A Sign that Allah Most High loves someone is that it becomes easy for them to do that which pleases Allah Most High and hard for them to do anything He dislikes. I regularly make Dua that Allah Most high puts in my Heart love for that which he loves and hate for that which he hates. I Pray that He does the same for you.

Walecum As Salaam wa rehmatullahi wa barakhatahu, jazakAllah for this post, yes it is extremely necessary to love prophet Muhammad S.A.W ( pbuh ),and we can initiate sunnah by starting small but important things such as reading Quran daily, conveying the message of Quran to others, initiating the salaam, giving sadaqah frequently and Allah then give more chances to follow Sunnah,as Allah says in ch 29 v 69 that if you strive in way of Allah, Allah will open pathways for you.

Hassan bin Thabit (RA), the poet of Rasulullah :saw: said

ماَ إٍنْ مَدَحْتُ مُحَمَّداً بِمَقَالَتي -------------- لَكِنْ مَدَحْتُ مَقَالَتِي بِمُحَمَّدٍ

‘I could not praise Muhammad with my words;
rather,
my words were made praiseworthy by Muhammad'

Mohammad(SAW) was born in a day not previously associated as special days in the Abrahamic faith which was on Monday. The wisdom behind this is that people should not associate the greatness of Mohammad(SAW) due to that day but rather the day itself was made special due to his birth on that day. In the same vein here Hasan Ibn Thabit(RA) says it's not the poems that make Mohammad(SAW) great but rather the poem is made great due it mentioning Mohammad(SAW).

"My eyes have not seen a more beautiful person than you
No women has given birth to a more beautiful person than you

You have been created without any weakness and blemish
As if you have been created as you wished to be created"

The Poem above was said by Hasan Ibn Thabit(RA) infront of Mohammad(SAW) and it should be noted he(SAW) did not object to anything he said; that is had Mohammad(SAW) had any blemish he would have objected to what Hasab ibn Thabit(RA) said!
