A young woman who admitted being a "Twitter terrorist" on a massive scale has been jailed for three years and a half years.

Iraqi Alaa Esayed was sentenced at the Old Bailey after admitting charges of encouraging terrorism and disseminating a terrorist publication.

Between June 2013 and May 2014, the 22-year-old from Kennington, south London, posted more than 45,000 tweets in Arabic on an open account to her 8,240 followers with many encouraging violent jihad.

Her account which bore a profile of a woman in a burka with one finger raised and holding a kalashnikov even came to the attention of al Qaida which listed it as among the 66 most important jihadist accounts.

Jailing her today, Judge Charles Wide told her: "This material and its dissemination is an important factor in the encouragement of young men and women to travel abroad and engage in acts of terrorism.

"It is a matter of great and justified public concern. You were disseminating such material on a massive scale over a period of just short of a year.

"An indication of how busy you were in this activity is that on a site associated with al Qaida your Twitter account was noted to be one of 66 important jihadist accounts. The judge went on: "The material you were disseminating encouraged young men to go and fight and you now accept that was your intention and furthermore to encourage women to go to support them and indeed to bring up their children in the belief that it is their duty to take up arms to wage violent jihad and embrace martyrdom.
"And furthermore to encourage mothers to be proud of their sons who die as martyrs."

He said the material which was also posted on Instagram also included graphic images of corpses and prisoners about to be beheaded.

Judge Wide said it was a feature of the case that Esayed continually changed her story after she was arrested and even up until the time she pleaded guilty in April.

He told her she knew "perfectly well" all along what she had been doing, despite initially claiming she only wanted to learn about Muslim struggles in Iraq, Syria and Palestine and was merely cutting and pasting from other sources with her limited understanding of written Arabic.

Only in mitigation today, had the defendant put forward the explanation that she was promoting the interests of the Sunni community in Iraq from Shia military forces, the court heard.

Because of her "blatant untruthfulness", the judge said he had difficulty in accepting anything she said through her lawyer.

However, he did accept there was no evidence to suggest she was planning to engage in terrorism herself or had posted anything of a "practical nature".

Earlier, the court heard that Esayed was brought up in war-torn Mosul in Iraq and came to Britain with her family in 2007 after her military father was forced to flee the country.

After she was arrested, she told police in a prepared statement that she created the social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram so she could learn about the struggles of fellow Muslims in Iraq, Syria and Palestine.

Most of the posts were cut and pasted from other sources and she insisted she did not support violent jihad. She had no intention of being a martyr and she could not even read or write Arabic well, her statement said.

In mitigation, her lawyer Tanvir Qureshi accepted: "Yes, she is a Twitter terrorist but she is a Twitter terrorist who lacked creativity. She did not have a blog. She was blindly cutting and pasting."

He said her postings was just "propaganda" and there was no practice advice to any budding terrorists.

The maximum sentence for the offences was seven years and the judge indicated that if she had been convicted following a trial, she would have received 54 months in jail.

Esayed, who wore a burka but removed her veil as a mark of respect to the court, was supported by her father.

Judge Wide noted she came from a "close-knit and concerned family", adding: "It is moving to see your father here - he must be very upset by what you have done and the position you find yourself."

The defendant made no reaction as she was sent down to begin her sentence.

A woman (daughter) has been unlawfully bound and kidnapped and is experiencing psychological torture for being concerned about what is happening to Muslims worldwide.
The judge himself is fully aware of the unlawfulness and immorality of his handlers' actions globally (wmd bull is just the tip of the iceberg)

Obama, bush, sarkozy, blair and cameron, the orchestration of the treasonous flase flag events on 9/11/2001 and ensuing cover-up was criminal, the FALSE material you were disseminating via cnn, fox, bbc et al encouraged young men to go and fight and you now accept that was your intention and furthermore to encourage women to go to support them and indeed to bring up their children in the belief that it is their duty to take up arms to wage violent illegal wars and embrace paychecks or dogs deaths on their way to hell."
And furthermore to encourage mothers to be proud of their sons who die as war criminals."

The judge would have done well to have looked at the reasoning behind her actions, and should also have immediately demanded that his government pull out of all illegal and manufactured wars and issue an apology to the people of those countries before passing judgement,
Interesting how they try to scare the masses into silence EVERY TIME they start to prepare an illegal war.

It was upped as bush attacked iraq, then was made cozy when obama needed a pretext in syria, (can't be seen as supporting terrorism now eh?) and is again being upped as they push for a bloody global war that is ultimately going to be decisive.

The majority of the actions conducted by the U.S and Britain in Syria fell under the definition of supporting terrorism according to the fake laws made by bush and blair in order to stifle revolution and activity.
So they just rewrote them to allow a destabilization of Syria, but as with all planning, Allah's is the master planning, and Allah is the best of planners.

Not being funny, but she must have seen this one coming... like, a bloody mile off.

Personally, I see no difference between her and those young Hijaabi sisters who went to join ISIS from East London - same mentality. Same immaturity and same lack of social responsibility.

They should release her and hand over bush obama blair and cameron to baghdadi for a free and fair islamic trial, who would make the planet smile if he tried them for attacking america unlawfully.

In an ideal world... maybe... but we live in nuanced circumstances so expecting the unlikely isn't really a fair outlook. The sister who is jailed for her tweets should have known the risks she was taking and further, known that she acted irresponsibly using a platform which is known for getting people into trouble with their opinions.

Play with fire, na get bon? Unlikely isn't it.

Salamz :) you made the statement that i was expecting,
It gives an indication into the fact that you and other masses of people are aware of the falsehood and injustice and that they are terrified of dissenting openly because things are not ideal.
In a country which falsely claims to uphold misnomers like democracy and absolute freedom (can dream on), the impotent falsehoods stand out in high contrast from the truth.
Just that we tend to blame the sheep for bleating at the greedy wolf who's attempting to devour it with the pretence of "helping".

Terrorism*is commonly defined as violent acts (or the threat of violent acts) intended to create fear (terror), perpetrated for an*economic,[1]religious, political, or ideological goal, and which deliberately target or disregard the safety of*non-combatants(e.g.,*neutral*military personnel*or*civilians).
Another common definition sees terrorism as*political, ideological or*religious*violence by*non-state actors.
Some definitions now include acts of*unlawful*violence*and*war.
The use of similar tactics by criminal organizations for*protection rackets*or to enforce a*code of silence*is usually not labeled terrorism, though these same actions may be labeled terrorism when done by a politically motivated group.

Usage of the term has also been criticized for its frequent undue equating with*Islamism*or*jihadism, while ignoring non-Islamic organizations or individuals.[2][3][4]

*In the international community, terrorism has no legally binding,*criminal-law*definition.[5][6]
The word "terrorism" is politically loaded and emotionally charged,[7]*and this greatly compounds the difficulty of providing a precise definition.
A study on political terrorism examining over 100 definitions of "terrorism" found 22 separate definitional elements (e.g. Violence, force, fear, threat, victim-target differentiation).[8][9]*
In some cases, the same group may be described as "freedom fighters" by its supporters and as "terrorists" by its opponents, a phenomenon giving rise to the cliché, "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist."[10][11]*

The concept of terrorism may be controversial as it is often used by state authorities (and individuals with access to state support) to delegitimize political or other opponents,[12]*
and potentially legitimize the state's own use of armed force against opponents (such use of force may be described as "terror" by opponents of the state).[12][13]* At the same time, the reverse may also take place when states perpetrate or are accused of perpetrating*state terrorism.[14]*
The usage of the term has a controversial history, with individuals such as*ANC*leader*Nelson Mandela*at one point also branded a terrorist.
People seem to be more terrified of the cia than alqaeda when it comes to speaking vocally about crimes or acting in defense of the oppressed. It is more fitting that we fear Allah to whom we shall return and answer in full - He does tell us to use wisdom - but there are often vague lines between unflinching honesty, wisdom, and cowardice.

A quick forum survey should prove that people are more concerned about their government harming them than they are of al qaeda or i.s when hitting "post comment".
It is obvious from the above court trial along with other patterns that her hi-ness (dracula/vlad the impaler/vlad dracul 's descendent) and her cronies have been unlawfully using terror via the "justice" system as a means to hide their bloodthirsty war crimes.

Vlad dracul was famous for his use of terror and means of brutal torture against people, he even fought against the caliphate
....seems his descendents haven't left that dark legacy behind, but are carrying his torch/attempted light extinguisher around like idiots waiting to be defeated.

I do not think being afraid of al Qaeda is any better then being afraid of cia..both are acting selfish with corrupt agendas or so it would blatantly seem.
We do well just to simply fear Allah subhanhu wa ta'ala and live our meager assistance peacefully on this dunya instead provide fuel to the fire of political and nationalist debates and wars. The more we all fight amongst ourselves between sides, arguing and insulting each, the less we are actually coming toward a solution of peace. Its ironic the very people who say they fight for something valuable are actually making things worse.
Allah help those suffereing in the world today over pointless wars and bring back SENSE to this world. AMeen.

^^ Should we let some radicals spread their message freely and just accept it that so many young muslims believe their words 100% and go to take part of ISIS groups? I have seen similar recruiters in many islamic forums already. They are those people whose give very false and bad image of Islam. Should we just let they do it?
