Some of the wants are acceptable in Islam, like wanting to speak English, eating a variety of food, and so on but a few, like listening to music (any music), is obviously haraam.

The end result we want must also reflect the life we have lived or are living. In sha Allah.

May Allah swt help us all make positive changes in our life Ameen.

Very true but in regards to the first two most usually want to work in the west because of better pay and healthcare therefore better standard of living, is this necessarily a bad thing??

anyway, I get the point of the post.

We have been preoccupied with worldly pleasures, which, I too am guilty of.

May Allah grant all of us ease in following his commands. truly, it is he who guides
