View Full Version : Have you watched the show called Omar/Umar?
I just found it by accident on youtube.
All of the episodes were uploaded by the makers of the series, so they are giving it for free for the viewers.
They are in arabic but the English subtitles are hardcoded.
It is about the life of Omar ibn Al-Khattab. I read it was pretty controversial (I could have guessed it, with such a topic).
I've only watched the first episode and it looks really well done and promising.
Reminds me a bit of HBO's Rome.
Here is the first episode.

No feedback... anyone actually watched it?
I'm only on episode 5 and I really enjoy it.

Awesome show, watched a bit, and really like the atmosphere and stuff. Don't really see the controversy in "acting" as people.

As brother Scimitar has mentioned, there are a few threads that discussed this previously. The series sparked controversy, including on this forum. People have posted their views for and against the series in the above threads, after that it's up to the individual if they want to go ahead and watch them. I think it's best to leave it at that, and to avoid further debate we can close the thread here :ia:.
