There are 3 cases in which sins are forgiven.
1. If you're unconscious.
2. If something is forced upon you.
3. If you do it by mistake - didn't know it previously.

Well sister, you can tell your parents to buy you long clothes, long as in, long pants and shirts (convert to what the dress is called for women, sorry, I don't really know the names of women dresses). And for the head covering, you can buy a long scarf or such type if you can't find something similar to a hijab - khimar - jilbab, (all mean same).

And I believe any sister can help you better, am sure they will Inshallah.

I will just say in short the criterias of dressing up in Islam.
There are 6. First one is different for male and female, rest 5 are same.
1. Extent: navel to knees at least for males.
For females, full body covered, only face and hands up to the wrists can be shown (though there are scholars who say even those should be covered).
The rest 5 are same for male and female.
2. The dress shouldn't be tight enough so it reveals the shape of the body.
3. The dress should not be glamorous enough so it attracts the opposite gender.
4. The dress should not be transparent so that you can see through.
5. The male shouldn't wear the dress of a female and a female shouldn't wear the dress of a male.
6. The dress shouldn't contain shirk, as in, signs of the unbelievers.

So that was in short of how one dresses up in Islam.
I hope this helps you when you go to buy the dresses.
If you keep these rules in mind, Inshallah, Inshallah, you can get the dress which Islam prescribes and may Allah help you sister and welcome to this perfect way of life, welcome to Islam, may Allah grant you Jannah (Paradise) Inshallah.

Should you need any more clarifications, please feel free to ask.

God Bless You.

One more thing I wanted to mention sister.
As you said, it's out of your control; me being a stranger have no idea how much out of control it is or how much you can regain the control or how soon; and if you really think it's out of your control for the time being, then it will fall in the "things forced upon you" category. There's no sin in it, but that doesn't mean you can leave it like this. You must strive hard to get over this situation, pray and make dua, Inshallah Inshallah, Allah will help you out and your future will be bright soon, God bless.

by out of my control, i mean that i dont have an credit and living in texas where it is warm almost the whole year, the shops only sell very skimpy clothing. my parents make me use my own money for clothing and i have no money since i am not allowed to work. this modesty issue does bother me and leaves me feeling uncomfortable in public.

thanks for commenting, it really means alot [emoji5]

I saw a video a month or so ago of a youngan in beard and hat and shalwar kameez.

An asian man asks who the prophet was pbuh.. His name and such.

...the poor lad has no clue.

He gets berated by the Asian man and it ends up on YouTube.. Snapchat whatever it was.

The young man does declare he is a Muslim though.. An immigrant at that.

Although it's made use of in its own way.

If I were you then I'd suggest a gradual change to more modest clothes.. That way your probably more likely to get clothes bought for you.

Shorts to jeans etc.. And what do you know, here comes winter.

Joke.

Anyway it's just an imo please don't think too much of it.

Wow I didn't read your post, Texas..

Lol well I guess you could still go for a more modest atire to begin with.. The next time you get the chance to go shopping.

Or buy of the internet.

..or wear a beach towel.

Seems my ignorance proceeds me, I appolagise.

Anyway your better off following the ladies advice in the thread.. Most men would probably eat you alive.

Like the sister said she can post you the head scarf, now I hope this isn't a problem anymore Inshallah.

So as far as your last part was concerned, till she sends it, if you haven't wore a hijab, it's will be considered in the "forced upon you" part and Inshallah Allah will forgive you, so don't worry. :).

God bless.
