Jannah is described in great detail. The author and Creator (Allah) described it with pure eloquence...Allah says: But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness that
their portion is Gardens beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom they say: "Why this is what we were fed with before" for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions (pure and holy); and they abide therein (for ever). Surah Baqarah
We, as humans, try to conquer Everest to view from above, we go on mountains like table mountain to view from above the city below, we stand on a hilltops to view the valley below, we buy houses that are higher up so as to not embrace natural disasters etc. With all of these above description of humans, we exert much effort to view from above, possibly spend thousands to purchase those abodes, why then do we not strive for the best for our eternal life, why do we not strive to be above?
Surah Gashiyah verse 10-16
In an elevated garden,
Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.
Within it is a flowing spring.
Within it are couches raised high
And cups put in place
And cushions lined up
And carpets spread around.
The eloquence in that description ''Fee jannatin Aaliyah" (IN HIGH GARDENS), so what are we doing to purchase a seat described as Feeha sururun marfooaah- ''elevated couches and cushions lined up". on dunya if we come across a place like that ''we normally describe it as ''heaven on earth''. Have we started saving for our retirement-our eternal abode?
How often dont we find that we seek the richest guys among us to be our life partners, but the love concept is non existant, you have all the wealth on dunya, this marriage consumes you, but husband and wife despise each other and they hurl abuse, kids grow up and they deem it normal and in turn abuse parents verbally. Or maybe not marriage and kids, maybe friendship, maybe acquinstances, maybe we use abusive language as jest... The gift of paradise is you don't hear abusive speech, verse 11: "Laa tasmaau feeha laghiya" (WHEREIN YOU WILL HEAR NO UNSUITABLE SPEECH)
Ayah 12 of this surah caught my attention ''Feehaa Aaynunjariya"
ayn= fountain/spring
jariya=flowing
So the inhabitants are in a high garden with water springs flowing= this means the inhabitants of Jannah are on top of a waterfall (gardens beneath which rivers flow), seriously what a view? close your eyes and draw in that view!!! We pay thousands of rands to go on holiday expiditions to visit hotels that have water fountains, artificial waterfalls etc
We strive for the best on dunya, everything we do, best car, best home, best job etc What about striving for the best deeds so that we can attain the Ajr (reward)? We can recline on the best couches, the best seat in the house ''Feeha sururun marfooaah'' WITHIN IT ARE COUCHES RAISED HIGH)..We pay home decors to beautify our abodes on dunya, we further pay cleaners to keep it clean and tidy, in jannah we dont have to worry about that, good deeds have already paid for it!!!
The inhabitants in jannah will drink out of the finest goblets ''Wa akwaabunmawdooaah'' (AND CUPS PUT IN PLACE), and cups put in place, we go to restuarants and we finish a drink and another is placed down for us, that continues all the while ''bottomless'', but at the end we have to pay the bill, in jannah Allah rewards us for our deeds, an endless reward.
How often dont we find each Eid or special occasion we run off to the shops to buy scattered pillows, different colours, to change the theme of the entertainment area ''Wa namaariqu masfoofa" (AND CUSHIONS LINED UP) for more comfort on the high couches, rows and rows of pillows, to find relaxation
The extreme comfort we go to to have pretty homes on dunya, who doesnt love persian rugs, they are too die for, absolutely stunning, and the price is stunning too, yet we will save, borrow, to buy those pricey rugs ''Wa zaraabiyyu mabthootha'' (AND CARPETS SPREAD AROUND) so the inhabitants of jannah sits on high couches with pillows and carpets spread out, drinking from goblets, all the while not doing a thing, just reclining and absorbing the view from above high.
Now why dont we strive for that enjoyment?
