Imam Qaadhi Abu Bakr al Baqillaani al Maaliki R.A was a great scholar of his time. Qaadhi Iyaadh used to call him the 'sword of Sunnah'. Along with other devotions he used to write more then 35 pages of knowledge daily from his memory without reference of any book.

He was once sent by the Caliph to debate the Christians.

The Roman king ordered that the palace entrance doorframe be shortened so that Imam Abu bakr may enter bowing down to the king.

When the Imam arrived at the kings palace and noticed the short doorframe, he turned around and entered the palace bowing down with his back facing towards the king. This angered the king.

As he walked into the palace he met a monk in front of the king. He asked the monk: "How is your wife and children keeping?"

The king angrily replied: "Do you not know that our monks dont marry and neither do they rear children?"

Imam Abu bakr shouted out "Allahu Akbar! You sanctify your monks for not getting married but you accuse your god of marrying and having a child with Mary!!!

How strange!!!

The king got more angry. He sarcastically asked: "What happened to your Nabi's wife?"

Imam Abu bakr replied: "She was accused by the hypocrites like how Mary was accused by the Jews. Both Ayesha and Mary are chaste and pure. The only difference is that Ayesha didnt give birth to a child and Mary gave birth. That leaves less room for Ayeshas opposition to accuse her compared to Mary's opposition.

The king was furious.

The king then asked: "Did your Nabi ever wage war?"

Imam Abu Bakr replied in the affirmative. The king then asked: "Did he ever embrace defeat in war?" Imam Abu bakr responded in the affirmative.

The king shouted out: "A Nabi and he embraced defeat?? ...Imam Abu bakr shouted out: "A god and he is crucified!!?

The king was silenced.
