Abu Qatadah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) once demanded payment from his debtor who then disappeared. Abu Qatadah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) located him and [the debtor] said:‘I am unable to pay.’ After taking an oath from him that he is unable to pay, Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say:“Whomsoever wishes that Allah save him from the torments of the Day of Qiyamah should give respite to the insolvent or waive off the debt”(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1563)
