In the Qur'an chapter 5 verse 5 it says that the food of Jews and Christians is lawful for us, but Christians eat pork and so it is implied that all meat except from non halal animals are allowed, which also implies that the meat of Jews and Christians is permissible provided it meets other criteria, such as being without blood, and being from an animal killed in the name of Allah.....but Christians no longer do that to my knowledge, even in America, a relatively religious Western society. Thoughts?

At nowadays its typical that Christians eat pork but did they ate it normally in the times of the Prophet or was their original diet more similar like with Jews? I don´t know the Bible enough well to say is there rules which restrict or prohibit eating pork.
