"In case you missed it or if you want to simply re-live the moment, this is when our brother, Martin, accepted Islam and in doing so, became the purest person in that room - having not just the sins column reset to zero but put in the good deeds column, subhanAllah!
There are so many lessons to learn:
• The impact of being a good Muslim and doing da'wah to family and friends - Br Martin was guided by his friend who is himself a revert.
• The impact of good company - the Prophet (SAW) described it best when he gave the contrast between the blacksmith and the perfume merchant - being in their vicinity has an impact on you, so keep good company.
• The respect and love between the sheikhs. Sh Daood Butt wanted Sh Alaa Elsayed to hold the shahadah ceremony, Sh Alaa insisted Sh Daood to do it. So Sh Daood started with the intro but passed it back to Sh Alaa just before the shahadah ceremony after letting everyone know that Sh Alaa was his teacher.
• Sh Alaa gave some very solid advice to Br Martin. He made the super important point about coming in gradually to Islam and not diving head first. Very important to avoid burnout.
• The tip on relying on a trustworthy person to take you through the initial journey of being a new Muslim - to not drown in the voices calling to different opinions and views.
• The real advice about not expecting Muslims to be angels, we have bad people too. That a new Muslim needs to be aware to differentiate between the religion and its adherents.
• The sheer joy and emotion of everyone around for a soul that was saved by the Mercy and Guidance of Allah.
• The intense euphoria felt by Martin, so much so that he could not stand properly at the end and needed support. Do we, individually, value Imaan as much as we should? Have we truly thanked Allah for His Mercy and Guidance?
• Last but not least, whilst we have full hope and expectation in the Mercy of Allah in accepting our deeds and rewarding us in the akhira, it is also awesome to see some of the fruits of da'wah work in this life. I pray that for every good deed that Martin does - salah, zakah, hajj, fasts and all - we have share in it, ameen"
