I finished my high school credits early, so I'll be able to take my last semester of high school in the two year college for dual enrollment....this means I only have 1 1/2 years of college left after graduation if I plan on getting a two year degree.....This is good because I plan on marrying early.....I had a girl in mind, when I was a child she was my friend, but then I moved, and right now I can not add her on social media because her father will not allow it and because it is not modest...so I plan on asking her father for her hand in marriage after I get my two year degree....is dental hygiene any good? isn't it haram to be touching women's mouths in that profession? and the other ones I can think of are paralegal, accounting, radiologic technician, and nuclear medicine, but there are no paralegal studies programs nearby and accounting as a two year degree does not pay very well, and I am not sure if I am so into medicine........what else is there? or should I just force myself into medicine? is a two year degree in finance any good?

Asalamu Alaikum

What do you plan on doing in the long run? If you want to continue your education, get your assoc. degree as a prerequisite to the major you plan on completing (eg. pre-med, pre-law, nursing, etc). If you just want to work right after associates, then you can try vocational schools. Your other option is maybe to get certified in something instead of getting an associates like being a physical trainer, or getting CELTA/TESOL (to teach English to nonEnglish speakers). If you have the brains to do medical/dental, then by all means...I think it's the best option if you have it in you.

The best answer would be whatever interests you. Your main concern seems to be whatever pays the most. I can assure you if all you want to do is chase the $$, chances are you probably won't be very happy in the end. You aren't into medicine but ask if you should force yourself into it? Why?

I would like to be a bookkeeper with a two year accounting degree, but my fear is that the girl I had in mind won't want to marry me if I don't make enough money, considering I don't have much to offer....I'm getting my driver's license at age 18 rather than 16, which means Ill have less experience on the road, I have panic disorder, autism, ADHD, OCD, and I take multiple medications, AND I live far away.... (me in Atlanta, ga, usa, her in Jacksonville, florida, usa).....im worried one of us will have to move and it's probably not gonna be her.

This is so cute! Well! That must be enough to ask her hand from her father. And yes, dental hygiene is very important. Even I have thought of joining some Mobile Bar Review Courses, so that I become a successful lawyer and I am able to propose to a girl I really like.

Greetings,

The best paying jobs with a 2-year degree are not necessarily what you want. In my area, the highest paying jobs you can get out of school with a 2-year degree are all in manufacturing. You will make 50k-60k+ your first year, but it's 60 hours per week, 2nd and 3rd shift, and can be very physically difficult. If you have an interest in Accounting, I think that's a great choice. You would likely start at less than 40K, but it's an 8-5 Mon-Fri job, leaving plenty of time for family. Income potential for accountants is very high, 100k+ after 10 years if you continue your education. Also, like IT, accounting education can be self-paced and independant. A Master's degree is far less important than the certifications (CPA, CMA, CISA, etc.), which you can study for and pass at your convenience. As Charisma mentioned, getting a University Prep degree is also a great option if you plan to eventually get a 4-year degree.

No matter what you choose, I agree with others that income potential should not be the #1 priority. As long as you work hard and remain dedicated, virtually any career will provide all the money you need in the long run. But if you don't love what you do, then you won't be happy -- and if you're not happy, how are you going to be a good husband? You need to make time for your wife, and you want to have the emotional energy to make the most of that time. Remember: happy wife, happy life! In my experience, most good women would prefer a poor man who makes time for them and shows his love, as opposed to a rich man who is never home and is not happy when he is home.

Best of luck to you!
