Advice Needed Please

I have a question that I need help with.

In the Quran Allah Says : "Ask and I will respond"

But in hadith we learn that we must do our share and then relay on Allah.

My question is what if a slave need help with something that he really feel he is unable to do anything about.

What if - Relaying on Allah is really the only thing that slave can do.

Does Allah help then or is it totally hopeless ???

Of course Allah will help and listen. Allah swt knows when you are in a situation that is outside of your control.

Allaah will respond to your du'aa in 3 ways:
1) By giving you what you asked for
2) By giving you something better
3) By not giving and withholding it for something better in the Aakhirah.

I believe Allah helps us in ways that lead us towards eternal salvation, I believe Allah desires salvation for each and everyone of us. I also believe that Allah helps us when we become dependent on him, so we truly have to put our trust in him.

A few years ago, I had tests done for cancer, about a month later the doctor phoned and said he urgently wanted to see me, it was non – Hodgkin Lymphoma, this was a name I recognised, our friend had this cancer, and died a few months later. I prayed for the wisdom, strength, peace and serenity to do God’s will, whether the cancer was a death sentence, or just an inconvenience. I can only say that from the moment of making this prayer, I have experienced a profound sense of peace, and the thought of cancer has never troubled me for a moment.

Cancer can be a truly worrying process, you wait a month or two for tests, you wait for the results, and you wait for more tests, but the prayer to do God’s will sort of handed the problem to God, and I have never had to worry. I have never once prayed for healing, at the age of 62, the prayer for healing seemed too complicated, it might or might not be my time to go. Recognising this profound sense of peace comes from God, gives me reason to be thankful.

I could not imagine this sense of peace without a faith and trust in God. I can say, from the moment of hearing about my cancer and making that prayer, I could talk about cancer in the same way as I talk about what’s for dinner?

There are very different realms here… the realm of Allah and the realm of living beings..

"Ask and I will respond" is a dynamic we mostly will not see. So, if we are expecting something, it most likely that we will feel that we have had our prayers unanswered but Allah would have 'taken note' and responded.

The point really is to maintain faith and believe that Allah will sort out your affairs but you still have to positively contribute to the improvement via action and worship. Not despair and give up.

Many times Allah answers us in ways we do not expect or understand but remember Allah knows best and knows what we truly need not just what we think we need. Allah will never give us more than we can handle and rewards us for our struggle and submission. It's not an overnight thing . I have been in some binds that I thought Allah wasn't listening and he proved me wrong. He gave me what I needed just not necessarily how I asked or expected it. One thing is we are a community. Brothers and sisters. Don't feel you can't ask any of us for duaa or for help.
