The Messenger of Allah :saws: said:“The angel on the left does not write down anything until six hours* have passed after a Muslim does a bad deed. If he regrets it and asks Allah for forgiveness, he casts it aside [does not write it down], otherwise he writes down one bad deed.” Reported by al-Tabarani in al-Kabir and al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Emaan; classed as Hasan by al-Albani in Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah, 1209.
*This may refer to six hours of 60 minutes as measured by astronomers, or it may refer to short periods of time during the day or night – Lisaan al-‘Arab
SubhanAllah, words can't describe what an amazing feeling it is to know that your Rabb is so merciful, He rewards for the smallest of good deeds and gives us the chance to avoid punishment by sincerely asking forgiveness.
