As-Salaam alaykum,
You must have read in the Hadith that the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--

"The son of Adam never fills a vessel worse than his stomach. The son of Adam only needs
a few bites that would sustain him; but if he insists, one third should be reserved for his food,
another third for his drink and the last third for his breathing."

Ailments attack and harm our bodies and alter its normal functions due to excess amount of substances we consume... traceable to over-eating or consuming more than what the body needs. When we habitually fill our stomachs with all types of food, some of which may not easily be digestable, we end up with various types of illness. On the other-hand, when one eats moderately, the body will get maximum benefit from such moderate diet, as opposed to when one overeats. So, keep to this Hadith when it comes to food and drink.

Yes. The Sunnah of Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم is for a person to eat only when he is hungry. There is no mandatory "three meals a day" as is the habit of the Kuffaar. A Muslim is supposed to eat only when he is hungry.

Ittibaa`-us-Sunnah (Following the Sunnah) brings innumerable Barakaat (Blessings) to the Muttabi` (Follower). Allaah Ta`aalaa grants such a person honour both in this Dunyaa and in the Aakhirah.

On the contrary, emulating the Kuffaar brings only Dhillat (disgrace) upon those who emulate them.

May Allaah Ta`aalaa grant us the Tawfeeq to emulate the Sunnah in its entirety.

آمين يا رب العالمين

Walaikumasalaam,

Ameen.

I think many of us overindulge & overconsume.

Jazahka Allah for raising awareness & what more of a perfect time can we wish for with Ramadan just around the corner!
