Certainly, Allah can purify anyone whom Allah wills. That said, Allah desired that we do wudu (ablution) with water as an act of worship in this dunya (world) to purify ourselves. There is of course benefit and wisdom in Allah asking us to use water to perform wudu (ablution). We do wudu (ablution) to come clean in prayer before the Omnipotent in direct obedience to Allah's Order; obeying any of Allah's Order is rewarded.

Wudu with water is done to be cleansed of both physical and spiritual impurities and contamination. Performing wudu eliminates any residual indolence and slumber, and it strengthens the servant to stand in front of the Omnipotent.

Performing wudu is an act of worship through which one's sins are forgiven. Cumulative effect of the acts required in wudu is a spiritual means of preparing the servant's mind and heart and body to receive guidance and mercy and healing when we communicate with Allah. Wudu is a symbolic "cleansing," a ritual put in place to help remind us of the importance of purity of spirit to approaching God, and a reminder that we are stepping away, temporarily, from the purely material, biological plane to work solely on ourselves as spiritual beings.

In wudu, wiping the face is to be forgiven for the haram (forbidden) things we did such as not lowering our gaze as required in the Quran, wiping the head is for all the corrupt thoughts that entered our mind, and wiping the hands is for all the haram things for which we used our hands such as masturbation, and wiping the feet is for all the haram (forbidden) places to which we walked. All of this is to purify oneself so as to present himself clean to Allah.

Also, wudu was confined to the face, the two hands, the head and the two feet, was because when the servant stands before the Omnipotent, the parts which are exposed are those which are ordered to be washed in the wudu as with his face he performs the sujud (prostration), with his hands he requests, desires, dreads and supplicates, with his head he inclines to Him in his ruku (bowing down) and his sujud, and with his legs he stands and sits in trepidation of His Judgment and hope for His Mercy and Forgiveness.

We do wudu also as a means of remembering Allah because while Allah forgave Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) for his sin of disobedience in Heaven in eating the forbidden fruit, Adam used his face to look with desire and intent to eat the forbidden fruit, walked to the tree to commit this sin, and used his hands to sin in eating the forbidden fruit.

The limbs with which we performed wudu will be shining on Judgment Day.

We do wudu as per the wisdom and providence of Allah, but some proofs and the reasons are:

Also, Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Verily, anger comes from Satan and Satan was created from fire. Fire is extinguished with water, so if you become angry then perform ablution with water.”

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There are two men from amongst my followers, one of them gets up during the night and forces himself into cleanliness, showing complexes of discouragement and evil counsels of Satan. He performs ablution, but he has knots tied upon him. When he washes his hands, a knot is opened up and when he washes his face, another knot is opened and when he wipes his head, another knot is opened and when he washes his feet, another knot is opened. Allah then addresses the angels behind the veil saying, “look at this devotee of mine who is forcing himself in order to ask of My Favours. Whatever this devotee of mine desires, I will grant it to him.”"

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When one of you sleeps, the Satan ties three ties at the back of his head and says for each tie: have a long night, so slumber. When he wakes up and mentions Allah, one of these ties is unravelled. When he performs ablution, another tie is unravelled and when he establishes prayer, all of the ties are unravelled and he becomes alert and pleasant, otherwise, he becomes wicked hearted and lazy."

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When a Mu’min or Muslim servant of Allah performs ablution and he washes his face, the sins which the eye committed by looking are washed off with the water or with the last drop of water. When he washes his hands, the sins which were committed because of the touch of the hands are washed away with the water or with the last drop of water. When he washes his feet, the sins which were committed by the walking of the feet are washed off with the water or with the last drop of water until he comes out from that ablution cleansed from every sin (minor)."

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "“When a servant makes Wudhu and washes his mouth, the sins committed by his mouth are washed out. When he cleans his nose, the sins are cleansed from his nose. When he washed his hands, the sins of his face are washed off, even from under the eyelids. When he washes his hands, the sins of his hands are washed off, even from beneath the nails of his hands. When he wipes his head, the sins from his head come off, even from his ears. When he washes his feet, the sins of his feet are washed off, even from under his toe nails. Then his walking to the Masjid and prayers are rewarded separately."

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever performs a perfect Wudhu, the sins are washed off from his body to such an extent they even come out from beneath his nails."

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Islam is to testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah and to establish Salah (prayer) and to discharge Zakaah (alms) and to perform the Hajj and Umrah and to take a complete bath from Major impurities and to complete the Wudu (ablution) and to fast in the month of Ramadan.’"

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "‘The believer will wear the ornaments of Jannah on the limbs of Wudu (ablution).’"

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "‘Whoever performs Wudu (ablution) upon Wudu (ablution), he will receive ten rewards."

Prophet :saws: (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "‘Whoever reads Surah Kahaf, on the day of Reckoning, he will have Noor from his place until Makkah and whoever reads the last ten verses of Surah Kahaf and Dajjal comes out, Dajjal will not harm him and whoever makes Wudhu then says, ‘Subhanakal laa humma wa bi Hamdika, Ashhadu an laa Ilaaha illa anta, Astaghfiruka wa Atubu ilaik, these words will be written on a piece of paper and thereafter sealed up and this seal will not be broken until the day of reckoning.’"
