a bit of wordplay..for a reason
a train of thought many need to exercise

when asked about what i "REALLY" think about terrorism cases reported by the media

yes i know in a court of law everyone is innocent till proven guilty
this post is about the refusal to accept any guilt whatsoever.

i know some prison chaplains who also happen to be classical scholars and some ex prisoners who volunteer in the prison system

some things discussed...

they acknowledge they have to deal with young muslims who think it islamically virtuous to kill innocent people, shock /horror

now..
back to my debates with the "all muslims are innocent/set up" brigade

1.do muslims sin..yes
2.minor and major sins...yes..eg.
.steal,drug deal,adultery etc..yes
3 are muslims inside for murder and paedophilia...yes
4..so..the ones inside for terrorism..innocent or guilty?

and yes i know about guantanamo/miscarriages/guildford 4/birmingham 6/etc
i have been researching terrorism and terrorism cases for over 11 years

but a total denial is unhealthy and further harming us

I'm tempted to plug LowKey's "Terrorist" video here.

Simply because it makes great points for consideration.

Assalaamu alaikum Scimitar,

(smile) I think what Ahmed is trying to say is that we shouldn't be in complete denial that there are problems in the Muslim community- just as there are problems in any community. That just because there are others who behave badly towards Muslims, that we should not think that this means that we need to deny that sometimes Muslims behave badly, too.

(smile) On the other hand, I think you, through the rap song (I'm afraid I do not like such music and images, so I read the lyrics instead) are trying to say that focussing all our efforts on seeing the bad that Muslims do, while ignoring the wrongs that others do is also not right.

(smile) So I think I agree with both of you.

May Allah, the Just, Help us to find balance.

"Terrorist?" (by Kareem Dennis aka LowKey)

[Intro:]
So, We must ask ourselves, What is the dictionary definition of "Terrorism"?
The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion
But what is terror?

According to the dictionary I hold in my hand, Terror, is violent or destructive acts
Such as bombing committed by groups in order to intimidate a population,
Or government into granting their demands

So what's a terrorist?

[Verse 1:]
It seems like the Rag-heads and Paki's are worrying your Dad
But your dad's favorite food is curry and kebab
It's funny, but it's sad how they make your mummy hurry with her bags
Rather read The Sun than study all the facts
Tell me, what's the bigger threat to human society
BAE Systems or home made IED's
Remote controlled drones, killing off human lives
Or man with home made bomb committing suicide
I know you were terrified when you saw the towers fall
It's all terror but some forms are more powerful
It seems nuts, how could there be such agony
When more Israeli's die from peanut allergies
It's like the definition didn't ever exist
I guess it's all just depending who your nemesis is
Irrelevant how eloquent the rhetoric peddler is
They're telling fibs, now tell us who the real terrorist is

[Verse 2:]
Lumumba was democracy – Mossadegh was democracy
Allende was democracy – Hypocrisy it bothers me
Call you terrorists if you don't wanna be a colony
We used to bow down to a policy of robbery
Is terrorism my lyrics?
When more Vietnam vets kill themselves after the war than died in it?
This is very basic...
One nation in the world has over a thousand military bases
They say it's religion, when clearly it isn't
It's not just Muslims that oppose your imperialism
Is Hugo Chavez a Muslim? Nah... I didn't think so
Is Castro a Muslim? Nah... I didn't think so
It's like the definition didn't ever exist
I guess it's all just depending who your nemesis is
Irrelevant how eloquent the rhetoric peddler is
They're telling fibs, now tell us who the terrorist is

Was Building 7 terrorism?
Was nanothermite terrorism?
Diego Garcia was terrorism,
I am conscious the Contras was terrorism,
Phosphorous that burns hands – that is terrorism,
Irgun and Stern Gang that was terrorism,
What they did in Hiroshima was terrorism,
What they did in Fallujah was terrorism,
Mandela ANC – that was terrorism,
Jerry Adams IRA – that was terrorism,
Eric Prince black water – it was terrorism,
Oklahoma, McVeigh – that was terrorism,
Everyday USA – that is terrorism,
Everyday UK – that is terrorism,
Everyday...

[Hook:]
They're calling me a terrorist
Like they don't know who the terror is
When they put it on me, I tell them this
I'm all about peace and love
They calling me a terrorist
Like they don't know who the terror is
Insulting my intelligence
Oh how these people judge...

for the record, I hate hiphop and rap too lol unless it gets political :D

For or over a thousand years
we lived with a message
that is sacred,

must we now believe
that message
was all about hatred?

:sl:

jazakallah for all the replies

due to my experiences i like to keep things specific and in context, ive been like this ever since you know when, maybe its ocd and being overly analytical, but when whatever you say could end up on world news in a matter of seconds then i have got to be.
believe me im no coward..but every discussion has its place and purpose..context..as i said in the bbc interview

obviously we can discuss foreign affairs/ policy and the dictionary definition of terrorism, but elsewhere:peace:

a good balanced talk
please listen
why was it not classed as a knife crime
or a crime by insane unhinged individuals

In December 2012, one such conversation between Adebowale and an Al Qaeda extremist went unreported, six months before the attack.
“Let’s kill a soldier,” he wrote in a series of “graphic and emotive” messages to the Yemen jihadist, where they discussed a choice of weapons and the challenges of being a “martyr”.
