An Iraqi army colonel said it was impossible to differentiate between civilians and fighters who melt in amongst them. Finally someone who confirms what I have been thinking all along. Mosul is not occupied by elusive ISIS fighters. This is just a insurgency in which the local population rejects rule from Bagdad. The reason why it is impossible to differentiate between civilian and fighters, is because there is no difference. "We are carrying out the toughest urban warfare that any force in the world could undertake", CTS spokesman Sabah al-Numani said on Sunday. Well, it is just the 1942/1943 Battle of Stalingrad all over again. The Iraqi special forces are not trained for that, because even the German Waffen SS were not trained for that.
The Iraqi government is fighting a local popular insurgency in Mosul, just like the Syrian government is fighting one in Aleppo.
Nobody wishes to admit the truth, everyone seems to be spinning their own interpretation of events and advertising that as the gospel truth. Why not just present some hard facts and statistics and let the people decide?
We know from leaked Hillary emails and from comments made by Obama himself at various times, plus from political analysts and journalists who do their jobs properly that the US has been the primary force is arming, funding and propagating various arms groups across Muslim countries, most prominently in Iraq and Syria. These groups were then given the name ISIS...who are supposed to be evil and I'm sure they are but they aren't evil enough to stop western nations buying oil from them. What a mess
And woe to us as Muslims for being stupid enough to not only believe the media rubbish but to support it at times.
