Love for Allah, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and the Messengers, upon them be peace, is mandatory and rewarding.

Love for one's family is a form of mercy and a means of great reward.

Love for Deen and anything relating to it is highly praiseworthy.

Love for music, sinning, and for the enemies of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ is forbidden.

Haram love, between two unmarried people, is not permitted. The best advice for them is to get married.

Your question is very vague.

Loving someone is not a sin, but how you choose to act on that desire is either haram or halal......if you choose the proper avenue for getting married within the sharia, then that is not a sin, but touching before marriage and committing zina (fornication), being alone with a namahram (someone of the opposite sex you are not related to), etc. is a sin......im not so sure about friendship before marriage, though....

Yes you are correct it simple as you say but Love can be meant refer to many sorts of love. A hadith said something like the love of a mother towards her child and all other love in the world that exists between humans beings animals is just 1/100th and 99 parts Allah retained with him.

I compare it with food as food is important so is love but there are haram food , halal food as you say , AND ALSO THE MEANS to achieve it should be halal or even a halal food can become haram . Like you ate the purest fish but if the money came through cheating or riba it becomes Haram food . so is love of so many types . If it is achieved by the way Allah told its halal and if not, its Haram. Hope we are all grown up and we should understand this without further elaboration. ;D

On the authority of an-Nu’man ibn Basheer (ra), who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, “That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear, and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which many people do not know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honor, but he who falls into doubtful matters [eventually] falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly Allah’s sanctuary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh, which, if it be whole, all the body is whole, and which, if it is diseased, all of [the body] is diseased. Truly, it is the heart.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

I was thinking to quote this hadith as well but alhamdulilah you had quoted which we need a little bit pondering here since in the times of fitna there are circumstances we feel ok though it pricks our heart . All those doubtful things must be avoided if we want to protect our eeman, especially with same sex. We have to avoid too much dearness like sleeping in a single blanket (Hadith)
