Etiquettes of Du'a

اسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركته !
What are the correct etiquette of making du'a . I mean the correct way. Like after praying salah how to start making dua. As far as I know , what I tend to do is :

*Praise Allah swt : subhanallahi wabihamdihi 'adada jalkihi wa ridanafsihi wazinata 'arshihi wamidada kalimatihi (×3).
*Make istighfar : allahuma innaka 'afuwun tuhibu al 'afwa fa'afu 'anni .(×3)
*Send salutations upon prophet Muhammad saw : the same as I say in tashahudd .
*Make the dua I want
*And end up sending again salutations upon Muhammad saw .

But I'm not sure if it is the correct way .
