British Hajj riders complete cycle ride to Saudi Arabia

Eight British Muslims have reached Medina in Saudi Arabia, after cycling more than 2,000 miles to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

The men completed the challenge in under six weeks after riding through parts of Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece and Egypt.
Known as the Hajj riders, the eight cyclists come from across Britain and trained for more than three months to complete the challenge.

They rode through mountain ranges and endured gruelling weather conditions to reach their final destination of Medina.

Some of the obstacles faced by the Hajj riders included intense desert heat in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and torrential rain as they rode through parts of Europe.
They also faced restrictions and visa issues which forced them to fly into Jeddah, instead of taking a ferry from Hurghada in Egypt, deviating from the original plan of cycling directly into Medina from the coast.

British cyclists complete London-Medina cycle ahead of Hajj pilgrimage

A group of eight British-Muslims arrived in Saudi Arabia after cycling over 3,000 miles from the UK to reach the Hijaz for the annual Hajj holy season.

They became the first Brits to travel to the pilgrimage by bicycle from the UK.

The men - known as the "Hajj Riders" - reached the Muslim holy city of Medina in under six weeks as part of a charity challenge that raised money for medical facilties in Syria.

Their journey took them through the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece and Egypt.

"Just walking into the Haram (Prophet's Mosque), I can't bring the emotions into words, nearly six weeks of riding, I can't believe the journey is complete, but one journey is finished and now we must complete the next part," said Hajj Rider Abdul Mukith on Facebook...

I've been following them since they left from East London Mosque. You should check out their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HajjRide/ and watch their journey through Europe. Their vlogs cover some interesting scenes mashaa'Allah.

Wa alaykum assalam,

I was following their journey as well ever since they left. Seriously, ma'sha'Allah. May Allah swt accept from them and reward them abundantly. Ameen.

Watching their arrival in al-Madinah was so emotional. Maybe that was how it would have been centuries ago when going for the Hajj, when people would have to travel by land or sea across vast distances to reach there, and that relief they would feel when they were welcomed by the people of Madinah and Makkah after such a long and arduous journey. Just for the sake of Allah swt. SubhanAllah.
