This is a very basic question, but is "ث" pronounced as "Th" or like the Urdu letter "ث", or is it permissible to pronounce both ways? I've asked my mum many times, but it always ends up sounding very snarky, and I do not want to hurt her feelings anymore than I already have.

It's pronounced like the "th" in "thanks" or "theft." It's not pronounced any other way.
