The concept of Al-Mahdi is one of the most controversial and greatly misunderstood topics in Islam, and different sects have proposed radically variant belief about him. Most Muslims know little, if anything, about this enigmatic figure. Yasir Qadhi sheds light on the Prophetic descriptions of Al-Mahdi. Basing his talk entirely upon authentic Hadiths and the explanations of reputable scholars in Islam, he explains in great detail the signs of Al-Mahdi, the trials and tribulations that shall accompany him, and the intense events that shall take place in his reign, including the descent of Isa (Jesus). Additionally, he describes some of the claimants who, throughout Islamic history, falsely professed to be the promised Mahdi.

Bediuzzaman Said Nursi was possibly the Mahdi, but he never claimed to be. Either him or Muhammed Fethullah Gulen. He also never claimed to be.

A Muslim should not heed to hearsay and heresy as well

Philosophy of the Mahdi-doctrine is that the rulership of the Muslim community is ideally for the progeny of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم. The objective of the Mahdi رضى الله عنه is to fill the land with justice after it was corrupted and full of oppression and tyranny. The religious expectation for the appearance of the Mahdi is meant to make Muslims detached from their respective states and governments.
