I welcome all opinions but also...If you have connections to a scholar please ask them and reply to this thread

Hello! I am a Muslim man who has a few disabilities that limit my mental and physical ability to do certain things or learn certain things. I cannot put my thoughts into words very well when in person. In text it is easy because I can stop to think about what I want to say or how to say what I am feeling. Pausing in real life would make me look stupid. My family has a business that sells food (American). I am good at this, but should I look for something else since the food is not halal made. The food is beef and chicken...no pork and no alcohol.

Every time I try something I fail and come back to the family business.

I feel like this is God's way of letting me know that because of my disability, it is ok to stay with the family business.

One good thing is, if I stay with the family business it will be easier for me to pray, to learn more Islamically since I have a poor Islamic knowledge background. If I were to get a "job" then it may be difficult for me to get time to pray or be able to leave work to go to the mosque.

I had an idea of finding and marrying a woman who works(maybe a doctor) and I can be a house husband. I am good at doing house chores. Would a woman with a great job marry a house husband?

I also cannot drive.

Assalamu Alaikum

What type of difficulties do you have? It would be easier to figure out what jobs would be suitable for you if you told us what you are and aren't capable of doing mentally and physically.

Secondly, what would your role as a husband be if you are unable to provide for your wife? I don't mean to be blunt but it would be very difficult to find a wife who would agree to that type of lifestyle where her husband stays at home and she works. It is possible if it's something she agrees to from the beginning, but you have to realize islamically she is not obligated to spend on you, whereas it is an obligation for you to provide for her as her husband. It is not really an ideal situation for any woman to consider.

just my opinion,

dont over burden yourself. if you're cool at the family business, then you should probably stick with that and get your islam knowledge up to par.

im going through something similar, without the disabilities. i have a great job that pays well but i cant stand the people who try theyre hardest to ruin your personal life for fun.

going back to family business. peaceful and i will be able to practice islam more.

Being house husband is not a good idea. When you are able to do your family business then do it and ask your family to see a suitable girl for you.

I see nothing wrong with it personally, but i think in this day and age its difficult to live on one wage. Your family dont use pork or alcohol so i dont see anything wrong with your current job( unless ur obvs eating the nonhalal meat). There are plenty of jobs that are disability friendly as well today. Ofc it all depends on your wife inshallah. Have you considered working from home etc?

Selling non-halal meat is ok? Granted it is to a 99% Christian community..

We have no access to halal so we do eat it.
