Salams all,
I do wudu quite a lot throughout the day, and its gave me quite bad dry skin around rhe sides of my mouth. Its blotchy and is stinging a bit :(
I looked online and i think its okay for me to do dry wudu however im still a bit unsure. Also, if i was doing tayyamum, would i just not do my face with water, but do the rest with water?

Asalaamualaykum

It is virtually impossible for Water on skin to cause dry skin. If anything, Water will actually heal and give a serene moist feeling to skin.

You need to see to see a dermatologist.

wa'alaikum as'salaam,

I don't think you qualify for it, unless water is causing a real harm to you.

---

If a person can find water and is able to use it, it is not permissible for him to do tayammum. Concerning that, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The prayer of one of you will not be accepted, in the event of minor impurity, until he does wudoo’.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6954) and Muslim (225).

It is not permissible to do tayammum unless there is no water available or there is the fear of harm if it is used. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“But if you are ill or on a journey, or any of you comes after answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse), and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands” [al-Maa’idah 5:6].

water on skin can cause dry skin if you have hard water, which is the case in most places. Which is why its important to hydrate and moisturize it.

see how serious your injury is and use your best judgement. Normally its best to use water unless you have no options.

Yes that is when an agent is added in. Water as in H20 rehydrates not dehydrates.

If you experiencing that from all the taps in that vicinity then its the water.

If you live in England where Header Tanks are common its worth a check - either way you need to see a dermatologist
