View Full Version : I have a situation...about fasting 6 days of shawwal but....

So I want to consecutively fast 6 days after eid. Now here's the situation. Day after eid is also gonna b my sister in laws baby shower....so I plan on attending with and becuz of my wife relation. Here's kinda an issue for me....the sister in law is having her baby shower....with a man who is not Muslim...and they aren't even married!!!!!!

And the shower is gonna have food and my wife wants me to enjoy the food and stuff so don't really want me to fast becuz of it....

So what do I doooooooo???

Is your sister in law Muslim? If yes, then you should take a stand and not attend it because she isn't married to that man and also because he's not a Muslim. Islam highly emphasizes on maintaining family relations but when there are sins involved, it is not permissible to attend them. You should explain this to your wife if she's a Muslim.

If i understood Mufti Menk correctly he advises you can fast anytime after Eid but during the month of shawal and they do not need to be consecutively as long as you keep them in the month of shawal.



But generally speaking you will always be presented with good v evil in life. The choices you make define who you are or who you will be and your connection with Allah swt. The more you make difficult but good choices the more your ranks with Allah swt rises and the more sweetness of emaan you feel. Insha Allah.

Well I mean she born Muslim with a Muslim name but not practicing..but they're nice people tho
