My friend needs some help on what to do. He is a Hafiz and he wants to do Alim Course and Iftaa after. He is 16 years old. He just finished 10th grade. Basically he can't decide if he should finish high school until 12 grade and get a high school diploma, or if he should go to Alim Course right now and get GED like many other students do. The institution he wants to go to has a 7 year Alim Course with 2 year iftaa. So if goes for Alim Course starting this academic year, he will finish his studies when he's 25. If he gets a high school diploma and then goes to Alim Course, he will finish when he's 27. So what's the best option in your opinion? Diploma (Requires 2 more years) or GED (Requires no extra time)?
Schooling after 10th is usually career oriented and only useful if he's going to work in a technical field.
If he's decided that he wants to become an Alim then he can go ahead with the Alim course and get a GED. May Allah help him and accept his efforts for the Deen.
