"It is not lawful for a Muslim to forsake his (Muslim) brother beyond three days; and whosoever does so for more than three days, and then he dies, will certainly enter the Hell"

Does this mean that all other deeds will be nullified? If this happens, there is no chance at all despite all the other good the person may have done? Also, I have heard that the ruling doesn't apply if the person has committed a sin and forsaking them will probably help the other one but what if a Muslim killed another's friend? That person would probably not care less if he gets rehabilitated and just not want anything to do with him, what would happen then?

Thank you.
