View Full Version : A Taste of Heaven on Earth

A wife will be broken-hearted if her husband insults or humiliates her. The sharpness of his tongue and the bitterness in his voice will cause her joys to fade away. The same spacious home, expensive car and jewellery that once gave her happiness, will mean nothing to her. Likewise, is the case when a man’s heart is broken by his wife. The stick that breaks the heart is the tongue. When it is broken, luxuries cannot give us joy.

In this day and age, loyal friends are rare. If two friends have clean hearts and true love for one another, even catching up in the car park is a source of great happiness for them. Yet, there are no luxuries involved. Whereas if there is unloyalty and dirty hearts, then even if they were to meet in the most luxurious of places, it will cause nothing but uneasiness and sadness. That is because luxuries are only a bonus – true happiness is when the heart is in peace, not pieces.Jannah is a garden where hearts will never be broken.

When we think of the delights in Jannah, often we think of palaces and rivers. Little do we consider that one of the greatest delights is a peaceful heart. Anything important is oft-repeated, and one of the most oft-repeated descriptions of Jannah in the Qur’an is that it is a place where there is “no fear or grief” (2:62). That, therefore is one of the greatest delights man can enjoy. We can experience a taste of Jannah on Earth, by adopting good character and warming the hearts of others. By forgiving the ones who hurt us, forgetting the pain we experience, cleaning our hearts and ridding them of evil traits. This level of clean-heartedness is only possible when we adopt humility.

Remember that a believer bows his head to Allah, so be forgiving with the one who worships Allah. Realise that it is embarrassing to bring a dispute on the Day of Judgement in the court of Allah with the Prophet ﷺ watching, so be swift to clear them on Earth. Fear Allah in your interactions with people by being kind and cautious. And that is how our hearts can enter Jannah in this Earth, before our bodies enter it in the hereafter.May Allah grant us the tawfiq, Aameen.
