Salaam.

In the Quran Yakub (AS) was mourning over his son, and when his other son complained, Yakub said he only complains and cries to Allah.
Is it viewed as lesser if you are crying and sharing your grief/sadness to a friend or a therapist etc?
It would really help if someone elaborated, thank you.

Of course it is not lesser...we are humans and crying is just a human emotion. you would not be human if you never cried. you just should not exagerate...people can do and say a lot of irrational things when the emotions are high. and that can cause one to rebel at Allah.

but sharing your grief with a friend or therapist is perfectly OK...recommended even.
