Is it permissible to go to gatherings with my non Muslim friends? Usually a place would be where there’s haraam food (I’d have the vegetarian option). I’ve heard that Shaykh Uthmayeen said that if there’s something objectionable at a gathering and you can’t change it then it’s haraam to go there. Could someone elaborate on this statement? Is there a different view on this kind of situation where there’s something objectionable like that there?
As long as u don't eat / do anything haram its fine( in my personal opinion). I got out with mates all the time who arent Muslim and i just eat seafood or veggie options etc. As long as they aren't drinking I'd say its fine( i recall a hadith about not sitting at a table where alcohol is served). It all depends on your intentions. If you just wanna eat your meal and see your friends, i don't see why it would be haram. Unless you want to do something haram etc, then its bad.
