This is very much a teenager thing because it is a self-esteem thing. You could be the prettiest girl but if you're comparing yourself to other people you can start having doubts about your appearance.
There is actually a du'a one should say whenever they look in the mirror:
If you think about the meaning of this du'a, you may realize that it takes the focus away from appearance and puts it in where it really counts which is your character. No matter how beautiful one may be, it really doesn't matter if their manners and character are not beautiful.
