i read somewhere that for example, you go in combining Dhur and Azr, you then only have 2 rakats on Dhur and 2 rakats on Azr. Do you recite the 2 rakats for Duhr in prayer, then after that just recite the 2 rakats for Azr? Or is it that you need to finish a whole prayer for Dhur with 2 rakats only, and then start another prayer with 2 rakats of Azr and that is how to combine? Is it that? How is it?

When you travel you can shorten and combine prayers.

You can combine Zuhr and Asr at the time of Zuhr or at the time of Asr prayer.

You can combine Maghrib and Ishaa at the time of Maghrib prayer or at the time of Ishaa prayer.

For example, if you combine Zuhr and Asr prayers, you wouldd pray two Rak'ah of Zuhr prayer and then say Salaam to complete the two Rak'ah. Then, you would pray two Rak'ah of Asr prayer and complete the prayer with Salaam.
