Could just be referring to other creations, e.g the jinn and angels. Not necessarily speaking about aliens or other dimensions.

Some scholars have interpreted this as meaning there are different layers of the Earth, that it has different regions, and others in recent times have said these different Earths could be in different dimensions. So again, it's not necessarily a reference to aliens.
Even if we assume that intelligent life does exist, we're not going to meet them. There are far too many required conditions for life, and as a result it's quite difficult for life to come about. It's even harder for intelligent life to exist. Therefore, there can't be that many other civilisations within the Universe (proof of this is that if there were, the Universe should be teeming with life, but it's not, it's completely dead). Not only that, but the nearest lifeforms would have to be light years away, which would make it impossible to meet them since travelling faster than the speed of light isn't possible, and if you travel by the speed of light itself that would still take too long since they're too far away. There are numerous other problems with this suggestion too that you can look up online for yourself.
