Assalamualaikum

There was a Hadith which stated that me who play (or listen, idk) to music are either gay or very feminine. The speaker who was talking about it indicated that it is a source of shame to be a homosexual. Did the Prophet intend this as an insult or is the Hadith inauthentic? Because to be gay isn’t shameful, it’s just the act that is so I find the statement confusing. Also, if it is authentic, if say a person was generally very macho but then started playing music would that automatically make him very feminine despite his other masculine traits? Or was that statement more of an exaggeration?
