If a person did a bad thing and asked forgiveness for it. Is it permissible for you to still dislike them? For example, a man beats his wife, asks forgiveness from God and his wife forgives him. Would it be permissible for me to still dislike the person?
permissible...yes...liking, disliking someone has nothing to do with haraam and halaal. someone can do everything correct and you can still dislike him/her.
besides...in this example...the impact is not limited with the person and his wife...it is a little greater because there were also people around who have witnessed everything.
the person himself can repent...and can be forgiven...but the witnesses cannot know that...so automatically they start to dislike the person.
the negative impression on others stays
we have a saying in Dutch "vertrouwen komt te voet maar gaat te paard"
trust comes on foot but goes by horse.
meaning: gaining trust is slower than losing trust.
