Do you mean inspiring manners among what is critisized here?
Indeed, this text is quite messy, different, sometime mutually exclusive manners, was assigned with the same word "proud".
A proud person likes to give their opinion about everything, they don’t like to take nonsense from anybody, and they don’t hesitate confronting someone to say what they think is right.
Perhaps inspiring manner here is CONFIDENCE.
If one has what to say, he has to step out and say. If he says stupidity, then he would be criticized.
But this contemporary to...
A proud person does not recognise their mistakes and does not accept to be rebuked. They do everything to not be rebuked, and apparently it’s because they don’t want to displease or disappoint anyone but in reality, they don’t want to go through the humiliation of being disciplined.
May be inspiring manner here is WISDOM? :)
Same about asking for help.
Good manner is never to ask (demand) for help, but let others know about problems, thus giving them free choice either to help either to ignore without appealing for their guilt feeling.
And independent person in fact rely on Allah only, not on master's mood. Perhaps author is just angry at his wife.
