The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
"The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." [Sahih al-Bukhari 5027]
Ibn Maajah (215) and Ahmad (11870) narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“Verily Allah has His own people among mankind.” They said: O Messenger of Allah, who are they? He said: “They are the people of the Qur’an, Allah’s own people and those who are closest to Him.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.
Memorising the Qur'an is one of the best things a Muslim can do as there are so many virtues and rewards connected to it. See this thread for example:
The Rewards for Memorizing the Qur'an
As Muslims, we should be keen to memorise as much of the Qur'an as we can. If we contemplate that the Qur'an is the Book of Allah and how noble and blessed it is, how it is a great miracle from Allah سبحانه وتعالى, we will rush to read it and memorise it.

We need to be careful because there is incorrect information on the internet, so you should check the source of any such information to make sure it is authentic. Please have a look at the thread linked to above, which mentions many virtues of the Qur'an.
