wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatulilah sister,
In addition to some of the good advises already given would like to expand and include some other things:
It seems that a balanced life can assist happiness and stability. Being balanced incorporates various aspects of meaningful relationships, wellness (good mental and physical health), pursuing goals which you feel passionate about/achieving and whilst ideally ensuring that the pleasure of Allah is attained throughout these ventures.
Writing your philosophy in life (which includes mostly Islamic elements ofc) helps. Whenever, things get really tough during studies or becoming impatient to reach the desired place i.e needed motivation, glancing back at a well written philosophy can be quite inspiring.
It will of course require indepth thinking, weighing truest passions against other values and other ventures already taken. Dabbling here and there isn't pointless. Knowledge is certainly connected, like the world and our souls.
So, my best advice for your question is to have some options you feel passionate about, select the one which is most meaningful in terms of both dunya and akhirah then perform Salaatual Istikhara. Or, since you are already in a particular career path, perhaps look into ways that your knowledge and skills can be used in relation to Islamic goals, service to the deen and personal satisfaction.
Also, be careful in terms of fitnah, avoid choosing employment whereby your safety as a Muslimah would be concerning or compromising.
Another important way to stay motivated would be to purposefully reward yourself. After successful completion of a semester or working for a duration of time, do something that would be self-fulfilling and or with increasing the happiness of loved ones. Buy some interesting books, go vacationing to another country, experience a new culture, place etc.
About, what Allah wants for us instead of our self-chosen destination :)
