View Full Version : Image makers are punished

Assalamu alaykum. I understand that the most severely punished are the image makers. However, what if it comes to school? I know people say that its ok if its for educational/necessary purposes. To be honest, it’s not like I am educating someone, I’m putting an unnecessary drawing of an animate being into my assignment. And slight of the grade is based on how WELL I draw it. That is kind of like competing with Allah, in my opinion. You see what I am getting to here? We have a few important projects that involve drawing faces. I’m afraid that everyone would make a big fuss and that many muslims (unfortunately like they do) will try to persuade my non muslim teacher that it is ok. (They actually do this.. unfortunately, many people think I am extreme although I am trying to be devout and keeping away from sins). I really don’t want to mess around with something dangerous like this. If it is haram, I will stay away and do whatever I can.
I do know that Islamqa.org says its haram, even when it comes to an exam. What do you all think?

oh yes and..
BONUS :: Do you all think it's permissible for women to be in pictures. When our family has a reunion, they always make me get in the family picture with them and it makes me feel uncomfortable. They ended up posting them all over Facebook. When I avoid certain haram things, my family makes a big fuss about it. -_-

I am not sure about the first part of your question.

But regarding taking a family picture, I would consider there are 2 things to keep in mind.
1- Is the picture for family members only (parents siblings). If so then you and any other women of your family probably can safely be in it. (And it will probably make your parent very happy to have a picture of their daughter)
2- If the picture is to be shown on public places like facebook, I would make sure to wear hijab properly as if you were outside walking on the street.

As far as I know (and my knowledge is very limited, so anyone, fell free to correct me), being in a picture in itself is not haram for a women. The problem is more where that picture ends up and more importantly who sees it.

walaikum assalam

MaashAlah sister that's the spirit! Be pious and shun ALL sins!

To hell with passing exams, don't draw them faces and just say to teacher it's against your religion.

InshAllah you won't overall fail but sacrificing a higher pass rate for Allah is a good thing! ;)

And getting in photos isn't good either , especially for females as non mahrams will probably see it , so aviod that too! :)
