View Full Version : When doing wudu

There are those times where i forget if i washed my hands or face or legs 3 times, thinking it's 2 times so i do another one but i feel that this is wrong.

some of you will tell me that this is the shaytan but it is not. i was in the washroom and i said the words that would keep the shaytan away while i'm in there.

So while we mention about my mind, there is the part where while im doing wudu my hand slips and does extra by itself, so i repeat.

This happens from time to time but only twice where it was just absurd, once for 1 hour while doing wudu, mind sometimes from all the movement i fart, rarely i bleed. Imagine doing wudu for an hour straight! And today it was about 30 minutes.

Now it does take a toll on me but mind that my worry is all that water that is gone.

It doesn't happen too often but does allah hold me accountable for all that water ? This would most probably keep happening.

I'd think to myself is this a test from allah ? would he hold me accountable for all that water ? hold me accountable for the time i took to pray my prayer, an hour later ?

If it's a no, i'd be fine but if its a yes...

it's making me mad i swear.

What am i going to do??

Saalam universecloud! I honestly can relate to this sitaution a lot. There are times where I end up thinking that I forgot to wash my hands/arms 3 times, and I end up doing another and I think I washed it more than 3 times. If I know that I messed up, I just do it over again completely and I try not to let my mind off the 2nd time. And no it is not shaytan or a sign of Allah (SWT), testing you. It is completely normal for anyone to forget to wash their arms/hands or feet 3 times. May peace be upon you.

I just want to add that allah doesn't burden a soul when praying, (praying is made to ease the person) while im getting all this JUST to pray 4 ruka'a. It's really tiring.

And when i pray i fart, I just dont know why should i pray now for someone making it hard for me to pray for him.

do you forget for a straight hour ? 30 minutes ?

Does he really want me to pray to him ? I dont understand man seriously its just so fraustrating seriously.

I dont want to pray for someone who doesnt want them (not that he ever needed them).

I agree praying 5 times everyday is tiring, but we as muslims pray because we ask Allah (SWT) for forgiveness. We pray to Allah to thank him for our blessings. We pray to him to ask for his guidance.

Farting is another thing that is common. All you will have to do is to do wudu again, and start over with your prayer.

When I make a mistake while doing wudu, it takes me about 7 minutes to do it over again. If you have a difficulty with wudu, ask your parents to guide you. Or while you are doing wudu, its useful to count in your head as you are washing your hands/feet.

praying 5 times a day is the easiest thing that he gave us, its just the wudu part, don't twist my words!

i do count in my head, yet i still repeat.

and how allah expects me to pray in serenity after said length of wudu, my mind state is NOT the best at that point, just full of fraustration.

I need an answer that satisfies or im done here.

just to add about the one hour, it was about 50 minutes, JUST so he doesn't accounting that on my head.

If you do extra one (more than 3) you don't have to repeat as wudhu will still be valid and due to your waswas illness your extra one will be excused...

Starting and doing it again will mean you're doing far more than 3 as you'll be doing even more innit?

Even just one makes it valid (I. E. just washing wudhu areas once rather than 3) so with your waswas problem I'll reccomend you just wet those areas 1 times each rather than 3, this will save a lot of time and make it easier for you

Regarding passing wind in salah, you have to be a hundred percent certain about that because satan puts his finger in worshippers anus and pulls it to make worshipper feel he's passed wind (according to hadith). And a person suffering from intense waswasa should either hear a passing wind sound or smell it in order to be certain: if there is no sound or smell then ignore the waswas and continue to pray

I've checked other posts about this. We are allowed to do it once ?? That would be tons easier on me.

Sorry I have to add one more thing, if I am in ruku'u (or sujuud) sometimes I mix up between the two, as I remember I stop and repeat what is suppose to be said and continue, is this allowed ?

Yes, doing the face, both arms and wiping 1 quarter of head with wet hands and both feets 1 times each is obligation. This makes the wudhu valid.

You can actually leave them out. Doing them 3 times is sunnah, but if it takes you too long you can leave them out altogether and just do the 4 obligations

Or like you're doing, do it 1 time each...

I totally agree with ahmed here.
wudu is valid if you have fullfilled these four conditions:

1 wash your face 1x face is hairline until chin, and from beginning of ear (tragus) to tragus...so ears itself not included
2 wash your hands and arms with elbow included 1x
3 wipe 1 quarter of the head 1x
4 wash your feet with ankles included 1x

everything else, even niyah is sunnah and can be left out.

no one does that because it is highly recommended to do the sunnah also, but in your case, if you have done everything but you can ensure at least these four items, then your wudu is valid.

a second advice to you is videotape yourself while doing wudu. at the end if you have doubt about something watch the video to see if you have done everything correctly.
this way you will be:
1 much quicker with your wudu
2 waste less water
3 maybe help you realize that you are just having doubts for no reason.

but again...wudu will be valid if you just ensure the four items.
