What is Sufism? This is the kind of Islam practiced mainly in Southern Russia, but what does it mean? What is the difference from Sunni?

Sufis are sunni. Sufism or Tasawuf is a process of leaving the dunya for Allah alone.

Anyone who does the above is basically treading a Sufi path.

Traditionally, some Shayook mastered the process and taught it to students known a murideen.

Amongst the sufis have been great warriors, pious shayook and deviants, just as you will find in any type of group.
