The literal meaning of Juma (Friday) is congregation. Friday is the day when Allah's Special mercies are granted. It is a day of gathering for the Muslims and rewards are increased. In islam, Jummah is very significant day of the week. No doubt all days are from Allah but some days and month are more important than from the rest of the days and months. Every Friday, sermon is delivered before Jummah Salaah. Every Muslim should attend the Jummah Salaah.

Prophet Muhammad pbuh described the virtues of Jummah prayer in the following hadith with these words; ”When the Friday comes, at every door of the Masjid there stands Angels who write down (the names of) those who come First, then who comes next. When the Imam sits down, the records are closed and they come to listen to the reminder , i.e. the Khutba….” (Muslim)

Allah Almighty, says in Holy Quran: “Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.” (Quran, 33: 56)

Reciting Durood Sharif on Friday: Prophet pbuh said : "On Friday, send Durood abundantly to me, as it is presented before me.” (Abu Dawud).

For receiving rewards from Allah Almighty we should recite Durood Sharif on Friday.

Greatest Rewards from Allah Almighty: Allah showers ten blessings on the man who recites a Durood. Prophet (PBUH) said in Hadith: “Whoever supplicates Allah to exalt for me, Allah would exalt him ten times.”(Muslim)

Blessings: One who recites Durood Sharif ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening will receive the help of Holy Prophet (PBUH) on the Day of Judgment.

《Significance of The Jummah》

1.The Qur'an invokes the importance of Friday as a sacred day of worship in a chapter called “Al-Jumah,” meaning the day of congregation, which is also the word for Friday in Arabic. Allah has blessed us a complete surah about Jummah : Surah Al-Jumua.

"O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew." [Al-Quran 62:9]

2. The day of Jumu'ah includes an hour during which all supplications are accepted.

Narrated Abu Hurairah (R.A): Allah’s Messenger pbuh talked about Friday and said: “There is an hour on Friday And if a Muslim gets it while offering Salat and asks something from Allah Almighty, then Allah will definitely fulfill his demands and Prophet Muhammad pbuh pointed out the shortness of that particular time with his hands. [Sahih al-Bukhari, Muslim]

3. The Messenger of Allaah pbuh, said:

“The best day the sun rises over is Friday; on it Allaah created Aadam. On it, he was made to enter paradise, on it he was expelled from it, and the Last Hour will take place on no other day than Friday.”[Ahmad and At-At-Tirmithi].

4. The charity given in this day is more virtuous than the other days of a week. The Messenger pbuh said:

"Charity given during the day of Jumu'ah is greater (in reward) than any other day."

5. It is a day on which sins are forgiven, as narrated by Salmaan R.A who narrated that the Prophet, pbuh said:

“Any man who performs Ghusl on Friday, perfumes himself if he has perfume, wears the best of his clothes, then goes to the mosque and offers as many prayers as he wishes while not harming anybody, then listens quietly while the Imaam speaks until he offers the prayer, will have all his sins between that Friday and the next forgiven.[Al-Bukhaari].

6. Dying on Friday, during the day or night, is a sign of a good end, for the one who dies on that day will be protected from the trial of the grave (i.e., Allaah The Almighty will enable such a person to be steadfast during it). The Prophet pbub said:

“Any Muslim who dies during the day or night of Friday will be protected by Allaah from the trial of the grave.” [At-Tirmithi and Ahmad].

7. It was narrated from Aws ibn Aws al-Thaqafi that the Messenger of Allah pbuh said:

Whoever does Ghusl on Friday and causes (his wife) to do Ghusl, and sets out early, and comes close to the imam and listens and keeps quiet, for every step he takes he will have the reward of fasting and praying qiyaam for one year.” (al-Tirmidhi)

May Allah accept our prayers and Dua.
