Assalamualaykum

I understand that we’re taught to dress well but is this only when leaving the house?

What if we’re alone or just with family at home? Is it fine for us to walk around in old clothes, maybe clothes with stains etc that you wouldn’t wear outside? Or even just clothes that don’t colour-coordinate very well - again, something you wouldn’t wear outside?

Muslims are supposed to dress well outside cuz they are representing islam there. At home , you can wear old clothes, no problem. Allah loves cleanliness, we should wear clean clothes while praying , so give at least one wash to the clothes, if the stain remains,no worries, you can still wear it. Note that this is to be followed only if one is unmarried.
