Apart from the prevalent notion of tv inducing vulgarity in our society and making homosexuality etc mainstream, how else does it affect us?
Does it reduce our faith in Allah?
Does it make our reliance on Allah less?
Do we start believing in different set of ideas?
I read some where that it is the jewish belief that once God created the universe, He lost control over it and now it is up to the humans to do whatever that is needed to be done? In that case, thinkin that "the universe gives us signs for things" also unislamic or what?
Recently someone asked me about pattern of life and i realised in many tv series they show the same pattern,. e.g in many sitcoms they have the one "will they/won't they" couple such as ross/Rachel, or pam/jim in the office etc. So it occured to me perhaps that negatively impacts our faith in the Almighty.
What are ur opinions?

It depends on what you watch. It you watch religious programs then it’s totally fine because it helps to learn the Deen. However, majority don’t use it to learn the Deen. We either watch sports, news or political debates or dramas or movies and all of that is haram because it distracts us from remembrance of Allah. We hear stuff we should not and watch what we should not. As a result, we fail to find to connect with Allah. Unfortunately, this evil is so wide spread that it is in almost every house. Even some religious people, spend sometime to watch dramas as a means of family entertainment. May Allah protect us from these Dajjali fitnas and grant us true understanding of Islam. Perhaps a better use of time is to read Quran or read some books on Aqeeda.

And Allah knows the best!

Now a days most people use phones and almost everyone is glued to them watching YouTube videos or wasting time on social media. Family members don’t eat breakfast, lunch or dinner together and if they do ( may be once in a while), you will find mostly still using their phones. This social media thing has made us so unsocial. Young generation feels anxiety when they are in a social set up. May Allah protect us from these evils of social media. I miss the time, when NOKIA 300 was considered as a luxury, invention of smart phone has turned some very smart people into smart dummies.

That is true. I feel like television and social media have produced a sense of hopelessness among us. I watched friends a few days back and despite it being a comedy show, i got depressed and didn't pray the entire day, thinking that it is how the universe works. But then i realized that I am comparing a 20 min series, with the power of the Almighty,. He created the people, gave them the idea and acting abilities and the means to produce such a thing. gettin me?

I am not sure if I get your point.
I personally don’t watch TV, we did not have one at home since a long time. It promotes love for worldly life, jealousy, competition to get a better life style etc. It promotes haram by showing dramas based on love stories and telling young generation that it is okay to have affairs and it’s okay to date etc. Most programs have female hosts who don’t do hijab ( I personally think women should do Niqab), and promote feminism. Music is common which is haram as well. Quran and love for music, can’t be in the same heart. Comedy shows are all based on lies, which is haram as well. Even religious programs in India and Pakistan are a joke, mostly promoting Sufism and shiaism without a common person even realizing it.
anyways you can see that I don’t have any positive thing to say about social media and TV channels. It’s all part of dajjali fitna.

I stopped watching television a while ago, but started watching it during quarantine when i literally had nothing else to do.. So as soon as i started watching tv shows again, i started to turn away from Allah. for instance, i know someone who went through a breakup, and the same i saw in the series. And it appeared to me that all universe works according to the same pattern. Then a day ago, i saw the other post where the person had asked the same thing on this platform. "that why would Allah accept his dua if He didn't accept someone else's dua"
my mind is muddled, i am not good at articulating my points anyway. I think what iam trying to say is that, if we watch TV series, even for entertainment, they not only open our minds towards vulgarity, but also removes our trust in Allah, related to praying, dua, and even respect for prophets etc.

That is precisely true. I strongly encourage you to start reading Quran and listen to its Tafsir. Start some Arabic courses and start learning the language of Quran. All of this will benefit a lot. It will help you to heal and gain the real knowledge which will help not only in this world but also in hereafter. Women are very critical and important part of Muslim society. They are a complete institution and if they have a good understanding of the Deen, they can raise the next generation with strong foundation in Islam.
There are many sisters on this forum who are memorizing Quran, join them. Give a purpose to your life and inshallah you will feel a good and positive change in yourself.
Perhaps you are already doing most of these things. In that case, share your knowledge. Many people on this forum come with broken hearts and need good advice. Listen to their issues and give them advice. It helps us to forget our own pain and in fact make us more thankful to Allah who is always Merciful and Loving to sinners like You and I and who covered our faults and who gives us life every day and who keep on guiding us to the right path.

Alhamdulillah! You will notice that slowly you will start loosing your friends especially of the days of Jahiliyyah (lol) and it is okay to loose those who only take us away from Allah. May Allah keep you steadfast and increase you in beneficial knowledge & give you company of righteous friends. Ameen!
