Like you are addicted to reading novels with bad content? Do you buy these books and read them?

Well it is like any other addiction. First of all, it might be hard, throw out your novels(the ones with haram content). Throw it in the trash, they are useless books that wont benefit you at all. Addictions end up bringing you down a deep tunnel to the point where you can't find your way back.

Each time you try getting tempted, remember that it may not hurt you right now but the more you give in to an addiction, the worse it gets. Reading these books may not sound like a horrible thing (although it is), but that is exactly what makes it even more dangerous. Yes it isn't something like zina. But this is gradual. When you commit zina, you'd feel guilty right away. But when you feed you mind with this content, you slowly become more conditioned to it, your heart becomes hard. You lose the ability to feel guilty. And it will lead you towards zina if you don't stop it.

You might think that it won't, but it well. I know a good practicing Muslim, kept away from so much sin, was very practicing and modest.. She ended up reading mild stuff by accident... Slowly it went into another addiction such as fantasizing. It got bad to the point where she was depressed and spent hours a day fantasizing. Then she ended up reading more intentionally. It brought her life and her faith down. This person ended up getting into something that I would have never thought she would have done.

Thats one of the plenty examples for ya.

Stay away. Do what you can, make oaths or whatever as long as you dont break them.
