Is this true that we are not allowed to eat after maghrib or Rasool SAW recommended us not to eat after maghrib or at night time

We break the fast after magribh if we are not recommended to eat after magribh then it doesnt make any sense

Aoa, why would it not be permissible to eat after maghrib . In many countries there is a 12 hour gap between maghrib and fajr. Are they people supposed to starve? What about children ?
