:salam:
Islam is not based on personal opinions. Sacrifice during Eid Al-Adhha is one of the established practices of Islam since the time of the Prophet Muhammad :saws:. It is one of the honourable symbols of Islam. How can you even celebrate Eid Al-Adhha without an
udhhiyah? Something that you should think about.
There are two different type of sacrifices, one during Hajj for those performing Tamattu' or Qiran, and the other for Eid Al-adhha for every Muslim capable of doing so.
It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar :ra: that:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَحَرَ يَوْمَ الأَضْحَى بِالْمَدِينَةِ - قَالَ - وَقَدْ كَانَ إِذَا لَمْ يَنْحَرْ يَذْبَحُ بِالْمُصَلَّ
the Messenger of Allah :saws: offered the sacrifice on the Day of Sacrifice in Al-Madinah. He said: "if he did not offer the Nahr (sacrifice a camel) he would have offered Dhabihah (Sacrificed a sheep) at the prayer place." [
Sunan An-Nasa'i: 4367]
Abu Hurairah :ra: narrated that :
the Prophet :saws: said: الصَّوْمُ يَوْمَ تَصُومُونَ وَالْفِطْرُ يَوْمَ تُفْطِرُونَ وَالأَضْحَى يَوْمَ تُضَحُّونَ "
The fast is the day the people fast, the breaking of the fast is the day the people break their fast, and the sacrifice is the day the people sacrifice." [
Jami' At-Tirmidhi: 697]
The first part of this hadith is related to the fast of Ramadhan, then the second part is related to Eid Al-Fitr and the last part is related to Eid Al-Adhha.
Narrated Ibn `Umar :ra::
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَنْحَرُ أَوْ يَذْبَحُ بِالْمُصَلَّى.
The Prophet :saws: used to Nahr or slaughter sacrifices at the Musalla (on `Id-ul-Adha). [
Bukhari 982]
‘A’isha :raha: reported Allah’s Messenger :saws: as saying, "
On the day of sacrifice no one does a deed more pleasing to God than the shedding of blood. The sacrifice will come on the day of resurrection with its horns, its hairs and its hoofs, and the blood finds acceptance with God before it falls on the ground, so be glad about it.”Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it. [
Mishkat al-Masabih 1470]
As for sacrificing on behalf of one's family members and others,
Narrated 'Aisha :raha:
وَضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ نِسَائِهِ بِالْبَقَرِ.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) slaughtered some cows as sacrifices on behalf of his wives. [
Bukhari 5559]
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) told me to offer a sacrifice on his behalf, and I will continue to offer a sacrifice on his behalf forever. [
Musnad Ahmad 843]
An established practice of Islam has no further place for discussion. Hence, thread closed.
