I have one very simple question about black magic. I know that it exists, but I have heard from somewhere that whoever commits in the act of black magic is a disbeliever. Period, there is no 2 opinions about it. I would like to know is such a thing true? Is it supported by the Quran or the authentic Hadiths that whoever commits black magic is a disbeliever. On top of that if it is the case then why is it listed as a sin of its own and listed as a sin below murder in the 70 major sins. Shouldn't it just be called shirk or kufr for that matter? Thanks.

:salam:
:bism:
This link is enough inshaAllah.
https://www.abuaminaelias.com/dailyh...magic-al-sihr/

Please read a lot with a lot of duas like:
Allahumma khirli wakhtarli
Rabbi zidni ilman warzuqni fahman
Allahumma inni asalukal huda wassadaad
Allahumma arinal haqqa haqqan warzuqna tibaah wa arinal batilan batila warzuqnajtinabah
Please find in Arabic.

Do not blindly follow shaykhs, especually of one creed.
Stay with ahl ul sunnah and whole jamah of ummah and above mentioned.
Learn and read duas at every step, dhikr-sunnah, estegfar, asma ul husna, shukrulillah, salawat ibrahimi, increase nawafil, do not neglect excellence at dunya abd it will be good inshaAllah.

Surah Al-Baqarah(البقرة) 2:102 They ˹instead˺ followed the magic promoted by the devils during the reign of Solomon. Never did Solomon disbelieve, rather the devils disbelieved......

Thank you very much for your answer. I indeed found one rather interesting Hadith...
Hadith on Sihr: Fortunetellers and magicians are not Muslims:

Bad Deeds السيئات
Disavowal البراءIdolatry الشركMagic السحرOmens تطيرSoothsayers الكهانUnbelief الكفرWarning النذر ‘Imran ibn Husayn reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He is not one of us who reads omens or has them read for him, or who performs soothsaying or has it performed for him, or who practices magic or has it practiced for him.

Now one of the first things I'd like to mention is that the general ruling it seems is that even if a believer commits sins - They may or may not be punished for them. Now if the sins they committed are anything but shirk - Which could be idol worship, associating partners with the one and only God and so on and so fourth. Even if they are punished for the sins the punishment is said to always be temporary rather than permanent (Which is the punishment reserved for the disbelievers). From this Hadith, unless someone argues that this is not literal if I am correct that taking part in black magic is kufr and anyone who takes part in such practice is a disbeliever. Therefore, their punishment in hell is permanent. Although the question as to why it's stated as a sin below murder and not stated as shirk hasn't been answered. Any comments or replies on this are completely welcomed.

Some sins get you shirk/kufr, like mentioned or for example leaving salat.
I do not know what list did you use and it does not make sense to conclude by hierarchy on lists. Sahir do murders too with black magic.
You seem as novice with your research (a lot of born muslims know what you asked etc.), but keep reading with a lot of prayer/dua.

Please do not confuse black/white. Treating sihr with sihr is not allowed.
In some countries with most (vast majority non practicing) muslim names sihr and sahirs are very wide spread and cause in addition even a lot of evil even worse than killings like torture etc.
They are often not only mushrik, but real taghut, mocking even private ibadah, destroying muslims and non muslims, and for the common folks they call themself often walis, good ones, some even shaykhs etc.

Sihr gets you cursed. They do not live even happy in dunya.
They suffer a lot and want that others suffer.

Things change mashaAllah. Some unorthodox before recommending sahirs started to recommend orthodox practices etc.
